Removing brake fluid strainer

Featured Replies

Sure I've removed it before as I remember cleaning it. It doesn't seem to want to come out now though. I've tried using flat screwdrivers to lever it out, but no luck. Any tips?

TIA

Edit: got fed up and decided to use needle nose pliers and brute force. Worked and flung a small amount of brake fluid here and there.

Not sure why you would ever want to remove it. The brake circuit would only ever be filled with fresh clean fluid.

I had the same problem, in the end I ragged the hell out of it with pliers.

Even when it was out there was no obvious signs of how you get it out without brute force.

It is good practice when changing brake fluid to first suck the fluid out of the reservoir and fill with fresh fluid before bleeding, to do this the strainer has to be removed first.

And needle nose pliers and a tug is exactly how I remove them. :)

Buy yourself a new strainer. It's only a couple of pence I would have thought. Over time the plastics change shape which is why it's a nightmare trying to prize it out
