S200 launch control

Featured Replies

BTW i haven't got a Fabia - see my sig below and profile info on the left

THATS my point, coming into the Fabia section and stating how to LC is just going to confuse people and possibly damage cars as they try and replicate...

Isn't LC standard on the VRS? I have got it on mine!

Launch Control is a feature of both the Fabia vRS AND Octy vRS

Put the DSG box into sport (S)

Turn off traction

Put your left foot on the brake

floor the gas

Let go of the brake

No - i simply asked the question if it was on the Fabia - Read my first comment above..... Secondly Chris has a VRS of both varieties and confirmed it is on there....

I DID say left foot on the brake :giggle:

Sorry i meant Left foor on brake has to be the first step as you can't change gear without the brake being depressed..

Just asked my dad as he works for a vw stealer and he says that vrs, gtis etc usaly have LC but they dont tell anyone because its not intended for everyday road use

little video for you.

As you can see the petrol revs to 3k. It is 2k on the Diesel and the Clutch is NOT engaged until the brake is released.

EDIT:

Nothing about greater wear here:

On an Octy vRS too:

See I've tried that but the rev's wouldn't go up like yours, I tried it twice then the engine light came on lol

Can you do a vid in your fabia please chris, just so i can see im doing it right ?

Engine oil up to temp? It can be a bit hit and miss sometimes. You know when it has worked as it revs up straight away without the clutch. Any sort of resistance when accelerating, stop, it hasn't worked.

Maybe they have taken it off the 7speed now or something?

Sorry ....Dont have a Video Camera or the car till the weekends...Wifes car

TBH..I havent tried it on the Fabia yet either

jrw not really, tried it in the office car park after work because its private and long :)

I will try it later after a little drive

I'm sure I've heard on numerous occasions that the 7 Speed dry cluth DSG box doesn't have LC.

Could very well be wrong though, be interesting to see.

Fabia dsg has LC including the 1.2

Well much to my better judgement, I've tried on numerous occasions tonight, and feel VERY confident to state, unless my DSG is screwed...THERE IS NO LAUNCH CONTROL on the Fabia vRS.

Oil temp up to 90deg

Left foot on brake

Select S

Turn traction off

Hit the revs

And...

.

.

.

...bogs down EVERY TIME...revs to 1.5k rpm...you can feel the clutch is engaged

Couple of times it banged as the clutch let go

I note the only people here saying the Fabia vRS has LC haven't actually tried or don't have one.

I also note there isn't a single 7spd DSG LC vid...hmmm

oh and heres one of my pathetic attemps...had to drop the camera as a Police patrol car approached.

excuse the squeaky throttle pedal

I read that LC wasn't included with the 7spd because of the dry clutches. Can't find the link now though.

no, the only person to state it has got lc is Chris who states it works and has one. I simply asked the question.

Perhaps they've turned it off on newer models.

clearly somebody doesn't know how to search ;)

Aint tried it.

Aint trying it.

Somethings gotta spin.

My winter tyres are that sticky the only thing thats gonna spin is my nice dry clutch.

I'll try it at the weekend if I can get my hands on the flippin car!!

I had read that it works

Not actually tried it yet TBH

I've been reading mixed reports! Some say it has, others not. Pretty much the same as the octavia discussion that the cr doesn't have it really when I has it!

For what use are actually videos of Golf R32, Octavias etc. posted here? It's a different box ffs. Even If there is LC in the Fabia this is not helping people to find out.

Now that Tiguan with Launch Control is quite strange, and you can see somebody asking there "since when there is launchcontrol for the dry 7 speed dsg ???"

As nockmeister notes, the only people saying it works, have neither a Fabia vRS nor have they personally tested theirs. (jrw, 32kofdata, ChrisRS) so I think the question still remains. On the other hand people that have tried it on their Fabia vRS have claimed it doesn't exist.

In addition, a simple google search confirms this:

- Though the 7-speed DSG gearbox doesn't come with launch control it does have hill start assist. (Australian Test drive of the new Golf)

- the fact is the 7 speed doesn't have it equiped! (GolfMK6 forum on a Golf 1.4 TSI 118 KW car)

- Similar posts exist in sciroccocentral.co.uk. Some said it has some said they couldn't get it done untill they realised the ones that could do it, had the 2.0 litre version with - guess what - the 6 speed DSG.

So unless the opposite is somehow proven/shown, I think it would be better to stop saying it does have LC, worst case it could cause some people trouble with their boxes.

I followed them videos exactly and it DOES NOT WORK.

The Golf video is to show the procedure.....nothing to do with the car or the box, just the procedure as described....TO HELP PEOPLE FIND OUT :dull:

The Tiguan has a 7spd DSG and LC, and there are a few videos of it so clearly the 7spd can cope but not clear that it is fitted to other cars...

I will also note AGAIN that i haven't said it worked - i simply asked the question. I also said that if the clutch is engaging when trying it to stop immediately.

If people can't read the posts correctly in the first place, we've got no hope of finding out. :swear:

How do you know 32kofdata hasn't tested his or one?

The 7 speed dsg in tiguan is different to the one in Fabia, it actually got "wet" clutches.

sent from the real deal

In your first post you say "I have it on mine". Now since you are writing to a Fabia II thread its normal for people to assume you have a Fabia isn't it???

Then you post some videos of cars with LC which have nothing to do with the Fabia as they are different boxes, despite the fact that people who actually own a Fabia vRS said there's nothing like that. As of this post, nobody has actually confirmed there is a Fabia with LC, quite the contrary and all we keep reading is about different boxes that have LC, :dull: , where's the sense in that?

I know 32kofdata hasn't tested his because he doesn't have a DSG! Can't be simpler than this...

I think If we all knew exactly what we were talking about (the 7-speed DSG of the Fabia TSI, that is) this would have been clear from the very first posts.
