Wrong fuel in Roomster

Featured Replies

Anybody put petrol in a TDI Roomster? If so what where the results?

It doesnt run..lol

Should be ok after draining the tank and lines, changing the filter and filling up with petrol diesel.

Empying the tank is easy enough, just disconnect the supply pipe to the filter and run a pipe into a suitable container, power up the fuel pump fuse in the fuse box or run a live direct to the pump in the top of the tank if you can get to it and let it empty itelf out.

Is that the case if it has been driven until it stopped?

I take it its a PD? If it is you should be ok, only time will tell.

57 plate I think it is. Roomster Scout.

How much petrol?

Driven at all?

my course of action would depend on the above TBH

It was driven until it stopped

It was driven until it stopped

I've always heard that wrecks the engine. Hope not!!

Oh dear, oh dear...

Oh well I have recovered it to a mates garage I will see what happens after the fuel is drained.

It lives. They drained tank and fuel lines filled with fresh diesel and it runs like a dream. Skoda rocks.

New fuel filter too ? Everyone seems to recommend that but thinking about it I don't know what the petrol would do to actually damage the filter, would it not just give it a good clean ?

You’re lucky you have a PD engine and I hope your unit injectors don't fail in the future, If they do then the petrol probably removed their diesel lubricant.

Good news that.

Yes it had a new fuel filter.

Yes it had a new fuel filter.

i put 50+ ltrs of unleaded in my 1.9tdi

realised my problem as i put the pump back and though £$£%$$&, started the engine enough to get the car moving of the pump and parked up out the way, then got a mate to tow me to his garage, drained tank, repalced filter got a gallon of fresh diesel went back to garage filled up to brim, put a fuel system cleaner in and all was fine

had a couple of starts where it took a while to catch, but as soon as the tank got to 1/2 filled it again

that was 30k miles ago

no problems since apart for SWMBO taking mick for several months saying "remember diesel is the black one"

So did petrol even reach the engine ? probably not.

So not a fair comparison.
