What do you use to clean/protect your Yeti Leather seats?

Featured Replies

Okay general question what do you use to clean/protect your Yeti Leather seats?

With an Elegance on order I've been looking at updating my car care products as this is my first car with leather seats.

I'll probably use Autoglym Leather Care Balm Reviewed on Detialingworld and their cleaner.

But interested on what everyone else uses and your opinions.

I'm sure this will invoke some debate.

This will get a much better response in the Styling and Car Car sub forum as it is relevant to all the Skoda models

I personally use Dr Leather wipes and rate them pretty well (12 months 17K miles) You may also be unaware that modern leather needs to be cleaned differently than in the past:

"As modern leathers use a completely different finishing system consequently they do not need to be treated with aftercare products containing oils. In our opinion the majority of renovation creams marketed today will remain on the leather surface, and simply attract dirt and dust."

Hand-soap, what's good for your skin, must be fine for a dead cow!

I find my backside polishes them nicely! :giggle:

Well it's big enough! :giggle:

I'll get my coat.

That's a perfectly reasonable comment - indeed it is. And SWMBO has the equipment to polish the passenger seat  (Fortunately she never looks on here!)

I think it's only the seat faces that are leather - the rest is fake, lookalikey leather.

That is true on most all cars with leather seats, from BMW and Mercedes right down to the most basic car with leather. It is not a Škoda specific trait. Just how it is.

Pretty sure my X5 was full leather (headrests, armrest, door panels etc), don't think even BMW would get away with charging what they do just for contact areas, they do offer leatherette as an option so perhaps they offer a part leather option on some models. Merc does an option for immitation leather (tex leather) which is decent but doesn't look as real as the BMW leatherette.

Interesting so most people don't bother.

I shall treat the yeti to the autoglym balm when i get my hands on her and then report back what I find. Having a 5 year means that it's bound to have dirty seats at some point.

What on earth have you two been up to????

Treating the Yeti is the last thing you will be doing.

Do yourself a favour and read up on modern leather used in cars.

Indeed! Thanks for posting that link above Martin! I've ordered the Leather wipes today and they are in fact already on their way to me!!!!!

He started it sir! :wonder:

I decline to answer on the grounds it may incriminate me. B)

But he did agree it was true! :giggle:

I bought autoglym balm by mistake - found it more difficult to apply/finish than the cream (it's a bitter gloopier and doesn't smell so nice IMO). Now back using autoglym cream

I just use cheap but branded leather wipes (from Wilkinson's) to clean the seats periodically - which isn't particularly often (once a year maybe?). It is certainly surprising how much dirt the wipe lifts off the driver's seat. And no comments about dirty trousers please!

I have yet to get a really dirty wipe but I tend to clean mine every 2 - 3 months.

When they start to go shiny you know they are dirty :o as it's the dirt that makes them shine

I wipe mine a couple of times a day :giggle:

OK Graham, I know, corner - now.

Since I'm going to a meeting now, I'll let you come out.

There is a nice product called Armorall Leather Wipes - they are much like wet tissues and help me keep my Gobi Leather seats soft, supple and clean!
