The Juke sized Vauxhall Mokka

Featured Replies

The Vauxhall Mokka.

The text says: "The Juke-sized Opel crossover measure 4.28 meters long and provides up to 1,372 liter of loading space, as well as up to 19 storage locations. "

That actually makes it about 80mm LONGER than the Yeti albeit with a smaller boot as the Yeti goes up to over 1600 litres inside.

I think it is an overstyled mess.

I originally laughed at the juke but since it has grown on me a lot! Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't go and buy one but I'm sure it'll be another one of those! :p

What a weapon!

I had a look at the Juke before deciding on the Yeti. It is really very small inside and only really useful for slender people with no desire to carry items with them. I'm not tall so found head and legroom OK but at 12 and a bit stone found the shoulder/hip room unacceptable. I couldn't work out how I'd carry a passenger and everyday possessions-a handbag for the front passenger and an iPad and spectacle case (for sunglasses/normal specs) plus a phone and other everyday bits and bobs for me.

The boot space is poor even for a routine shop let alone holiday luggage.

One with GTR running gear is -although useless-at least fun!

The Vauxhall Mokka.

Almost as bad as the Puke. I still laugh every time I see one. Oh, but not as bad as the Mini Countryman.

I think the Vauxhall one looks quite good although very similar to an Antara which I believe would have been decent but for the engines (suppose thats important ). The 1.7CDTi with 110hp was a very good engine but perhaps a bit dated being a cast iron block so with 130hp should be better and hopefully an alloy block.

As for the Juke, it must be the most fugly car on the road, is there anything good about it? Reminds me of a cockroach.

Such a TINY sunroof emoticon-0120-doh.gif

What a bloody stupid name!!

Can you imagine what people said when Skoda announced their new crossover; the Yeti?

So was it the Baden-Powell connection or Caesar's wife which first caught your fancy?

Possibly as hopeless as the Subaru XV mess.

All I can see is a Corsa that has been "streetwise"d - although I actually quite like the Streetwise.

It also has to be over priced on list - its a Vauxhall.

I'll be shot down, but I actually think it looks pretty much OK.

Not a Vauxhall fan by nature, but I can see it has it's place. The general trend towards SUV style soft-roaders will in my opinion continue, so for a popular mass-market manufacturer to produce an offering like this makes sense.

The "ease" of Vauxhall ownership (access to large dealership network, ready supply of ex-rental vehicles, strong approved used scheme, buy-in from fleet managers etc) together with the outdated notion that the company is somehow British will guarantee it's success whether we like it or not. But as mentioned, I think it looks OK so I wont get precious just because it's not a Skoda.

I hate the Juke, my Mrs was obsessed with them when they first came out so we took one out for a test drive it was the 1.6 petrol. After 10 minutes in that she was well and truly cured. There's nothing good about this car in my opinion, it's cramped expensive, impractical, slow and rubbish to drive. I suppose it's a modern take on the original Rav4 only not as good. Nissan make some fine cars - this ain't one of them.

Its a re badged Hyaundi

That was my thoughts also is it really a juke competitor? Juke seems to have its own segment of the market

Sent from my blackberry using fingers and keyboard :o)

Ahhhhhhh My EYES my EYES ..... they now hurt... and what has been seen, can not be unseen.

The Yeti is not "pretty" (nomex undies applied), it's quite "beefy" and functional in it's styling (PS I don't think my Superb is "pretty" either, but at least Skoda's design engineers know how to draw.

The Vauxhall designer should have his box crayons taken away for that one.

I think we all agree the Yeti is not pretty in the traditional sense (that a Ferrari is for instance). It is functional looking and does the "form follows function" thing very well. It is honest. No flippery to its design. This Mokka (and very many other new Citroëns and Mercedes designs of late) have too much bling just for bling's sake on the car. At least the Mokka does not have the fake bonnet air vents near the windscreen its Buick Encore sister car has:

The 'Murcans love their fake bonnet vents, they have done the same with the Buick Regal, which is a rebadged Insignia, I think the Insignia is a pretty good car and with the right colour and wheels quite good looking, but then they go and stick on vents etc and ruin the whole thing

So the Chevy Trax sister to this is now announced - http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/paris-motor-show-2012/paris-motor-show-2012-chevrolet-trax

Of interest - they compare this to the Yeti, not the Juke. Is that a shift in target for GM, or just brand positioning, I wonder?

PS: will be interesting to see what this is like in the flesh. Hope they don't take the engines from the Aveo on which it's based (and which I've had as a rental in the past - but was so anonymous I lost it in a car park...)

CAR test just out:

£25,000 for a 1,7litre version!??!?!!!! And that's a manual. Yikes. And come resale time it will be worth nothing (as per all rental cars, néé, Vauxhalls). What a way to throw your money away AND look like you're driving a toy car!!!

To be fair that isn't the real price.

It seems vauxhall is same as the IT industry where everything starts off at X price when everyone knows that the real price is nothing like the ticket price.

I've never really understood this "inflated" ticket price idea.

It just makes people distrust the whole system.

I think it is a product of the same school of marketing that prices things at 1p less than a whole number £4.99 insteard of £5 and on upwards so that, for example, £29,999 is much cheaper than £30000.

Fred

The first time I saw a Mocha (Costa coffee fan see!) on the road it looked too high for its width.

A bit like someone with a bit of a belly who is trying to squeeze between a narrow gap.

Of course I would know nothing about having a bit of a belly!
