Octavia central locking problems

Featured Replies

Hi folks, I'm kinda new her and I am looking for some help.

My 2004 Vrs began having problems with the central locking on the drivers door and the electric windows. I came out the house one morning to find all the windows down and the drivers door lock not working.

I took it into the garage and they have replaced the central locking control unit and also the drivers door locking mechanism. Everything is working now except for the drivers door lock. It will not work with the rest of the central locking. If I press the key fob all the other door lock/unlock but not the drivers door. But if I use the key in the door it works everything including the drivers door.

Has anyone ever came across this problem??

Thanks

sounds like a broken pin in drivers door little black box its attached to window wind mechanism.

But if I use the key to open the doors they all open with the central locking.

Could it be the case that the control unit has to be assigned to my car?? I got it from a scrappy, can this be done?

not sure . but i do know the black box is a week point . does the led light work on drivers door .

Not 100% sure to be honest will have to check that but I think it does!

i had simaliar problem except the windows . the key would lock the car using keyhole but the red led did not work and it did not lock itself when driving away

My dads car has just started with tbis problem, if he locks the car with the key in tbe door and then turns the key back to the centre position to pull the key out, the car unlocks and all tbe windows drop, also the red l.e.d ismt working either, what could the fault be?

That sounds as if it could be related to 1 of the 3 microswitches in the lock assembly.

Thanks for the reply, are they easy enought to get too?

Not too bad, a bit of patience is required is required to let the lock assembly out of the door. They are mounted onto a PCB (a search on here should give you more info). Before doing that I would check for water ingress into the large connector block at the bottom of the window motor on the drivers door.

do the mirrors work ok

That's what happened with mine, first the drivers lock then all the windows would come down and up. Turned out to be the ecu that controls the l owing and windows.

Yep the mirrors work, how much was the ecu and where is it located?

Should the RCL remote be able to do the total closure?

I went to see a 2005 VRS yesterday - and as far as I knew if you hold down the lock/unlock button the windows went up/down?

I tried it with the key, in the drivers barrel and holding the key in the lock/unlock position and it did move the windows?

Thanks

Troy

not sure if remote can do that, but holding the key round in the lock or unlock position forces all the windows to close or open respectively

Nope, the Skodas will only roll up/down windows with the key in the lock. VWs will do it from the keyfob I believe. The solution to this is to fit an AlienTech controller and then you can roll up/down/vent from the keyfob. I have one of these fitted, it just attaches into the loom in the drivers door.
