Hi,

Had an Octavia estate 110bhp tdi for about a year now, The performance seems to have steadily reduced and now its painfully noticable. Have had it in for repairs and servicing and they say its ok but I am convinced it should pull a lot better, 3000rpm is about its max.

Can anyone help, Please

Welcome to Briskoda. :) It doesn't sound as if your car is performing as it should. What year is it, is it still under warranty, and has the problem been investigated by a Skoda dealer or other garage?

Its a 99T, Its just out of the year warranty I got when I bought it from a skoda dealer as an approved used car. The garage claim to have looked into the matter but its steadily getting worse to the point where a slight hill can be a real problem. I am taking it to a local garrage tomorow with fingers crossed.

Other than this, its a great car!

Does it seem excessively smokey?

no smoke, Just passed mot.

I had a similar sounding problem with a Passat 110 TDI a couple of years ago which was rectified by fitting a new air mass sensor. Has that been checked?

It hasn`t but I will mention it to the mechanic tomorrow.

Was it expensive?

Thanks for your help!

Welcome :wavey:

Think might mean MAF.:)

I think the part now costs around

MAFs are available on exchange. The price new is a bit eye-watering.

Hi and welcome

BTW : should be the air mass sensor , I guess ....

People just seem to be shouting "Air mass sensor", "Air volume Meter", from all angles so I am begining to suspect my car may have a faulty Air mass sensor! I think!

Found one on the net for

Have you checked with a Skoda dealer to see what the price is for an exchange MAF?

My skoda dealer has a rather ignorant service department and he doesn`t even wan`t to know about the problems, just gives you a date and does what he likes. Seems to be of the opinion that only he can know whats wrong with your car!

I will try them though, Just have to catch him on his day off!

Thanks everyone for the input, With any luck it should be done by monday!

www.sportompactacing.com has a useful guide to cleaning a MAF here (and in our Links section). You may have to register first to be able to view it.

I read the link, It deals mainly with MAF`s on modded cars, my air filter is std and the cars done 75k without a previous replacement so I would gues its knackered rather than dirty. Managed to get replacement for

No, My dealer is a bit Rubbish, They insisted that I should have it tested and the conversation kinda` ended there. My fatherinlaw`s firm has in house mechanics for there company car fleet and one of the mechanics got it from an import dealer, but it was an exchange. Luckily cos they use them all the time I was allowed the part before returning mine!
