Petrol or diesel?

Petrol I believe it's the 2.0 tfsi

Assuming it's mint then it sounds like a good price to me.

There are three petrol vRS's on eBay Motors with between 60 - 70,000 miles on for £7K, most of them are 2007, a few 2008's but there is also a 2006 with 62K on it for £7K...

20,000 miles is very low mileage for a 5 almost 6 year old car so I'd be asking a lot of questions.

Yeah the car is mint I've looked over the service book and it's been serviced and it's had cambelt done I will verifyileage etc with vosa as it should have had a couple of mots I'm going back at 3 to test drive it would have done it then but my partner wasn't with me and she needs to drive it aswell

The very early MkII vRS's didn't have rear electric windows, climatronic (digital A/C) or the jumbo box (cooled storage / armrest / AUX in) as standard. Some also had 17" instead of 18" alloy's.

These cars are worth less as they are less desirable.

It had rear electric windows and it had digital adjustable heating so we could choose heating temp each side and te wheels looked like 18 inch I didn't actually check tho but the mileage etc has all been verified and it's one owner from new no accidents recorded etc seems like a bargain, only downfall just went back to the garage and they offered me 2650 for part ex, what a joke, I do like te car just not enough to let my fabia go for that

Sell the Fabia privately or offer him £6,100 for the Octavia.

Tell him you don't mind him making good money on the Fabia (£2,650) but then to make good money on the Octavia too (£7K screen price) is just greedy. He can't have his cake and eat it.

At the end of the day it'll be your negotiation skills that will bag you a deal.

I've been researching sale prices for petrol Octavia II vRS as I'm currently selling my 2007 car.

I'd say that even taking the low mileage into account, there is some room for negotiation on a screen price of £7k for a 2006 car. Is this from a Skoda dealer? - you will pay a bit more for an approved used vehicle.

I wouldn't be afraid of similar age cars with higher mileage as long as they have full service history.

Hes offering you a lower price than you want so now your turn to say you dont think its worth 7k to him :p play them at their own game tbh id think if you were sounding like 3500 on top of yours was good enough then you should be fit to negotiate with him down a bit closer. Nice to get a new motor etc but I assume you are prepared for the large difference in MPG from a mk1 Fabia VRS to a Petrol VRS if you havent had the Furby remapped then you will be getting a massive performance increase

Yeah my furby is mapped so not to much difference in power we just want a bigger family car for 2 kids and my partner loves our fabia that's why I thought octavia it's the same just bigger, I told them they need to give me more as I didn't want to shell out more than 3.5k-4k I understand that we get less on a px, but Come on, the garage said they will just auction the car as the mileage is too high to stick on there forecourt, it's only 87k with full history
