The argument of changing to another car is flawed cos you'll just end up wanting more power, so with that said I can understand where the op is coming from.

How about mapped S3's? R32's? Beaten lots of them... Same with mapped VXR's (both Astra's and Corsa's)

Against the 3 standard M3's I've gone against (rolling) I've been level or slightly edging 2 and got pulled on by my mate, whether that's a healthier car or a better driver than the other 2 I don't know, my mates tuned M3 killed me though

So compare a M3...

The Focus ST is a 15 second car, I've only had a few runs on a bad conditioned day but managed low 14's (BossFox = 13.6?)

Focus RS is like 13.8 according to what I can find and a 0-62 of 5.9 seconds... We're at like 5.5-5.7 for 0-60's

LSD makes massive difference to how quick you think your car is...

Traction coming out of corners is much, much better.

On the straights it's not so noticable, but it is better.

Traction control only comes on when both wheels break traction, not just the one with less load. Hence more noticable on a corner.

At Brands Hatch on a track day I could get up behind pretty powerful cars, slipsteam and then fire past coming out of the corner as I could get more power down earlier.

Are you for real?! You want to spend in the region of 4k on a fabia just so you can keep up with a mate in a focus!!! Personally id rather accept your car for what it is and accept your mates focus 2.5 petrol turbo is quicker! Straight lines and bends!

I bet your mate doesn't get up to 60mpg out of his! lol.
