intercooler pipe

Featured Replies

While driving my 1.9TDI superb this morning every time I put my foot down there was a strange hissing coming from the engine bay turns out the Intercooler pipe coming up from under the cooling rad up to the bottom of the Turbo has busted - no big problem I thought - rang the stealer after all its only a rubber hose about 30cm long with two steel ends clamped on it gave him the chassis no - turns out my little rubber pipe has a price tag of €150. So please is there anyone out there who knows the part number of this pipe and if it can be got on line

Please register and check the part number. I think that you can find it somewhere online.

I just had it replaced myself. We were looking for used parts also. Turned out that this part is only made by Skoda for the Superb and not used in any other model or make by VW.

I hate bad news but it makes sense the the price represents the availability of the part I have checked most of the breakers yards around N Ireland and Southern Ireland to no avail most yards just cut them off if they are in the way so all I can hope for is getting one on line so thanks Browser for the info on getting the part number

Will post Monday eve as I am going to look at a 05 reg passat 130 brake on Monday morning I am told this is the same pipe. At the minute I have the pipe superglued and ducktaped and it holding but I am afraid to over do it --- least I wont get any points.

Duct tape! hehe

Duct tape and cable ties make an effective roadside fix for a split charge pipe - I have used it in the past.

The charge hoses are expensive from VAG but all of the Superb hoses are the same as those fitted to the B5.5 Passat as long as it has the same engine. Watch out for worn "ears" which are pressed out of the aluminium end fittings and engage with the locking clip. These are soft and wear easily. Fit new "O" rings - cheap from a VW dealer.

Ensure the RH lower charge pipe does not foul the engine earth cable.

Rotodiesel I suspect yourself and myself are from the same vintage keep her going at all costs but after 200k miles one busted pipe and one alternator refurb is not bad in the engine compartment pity bout the water ingress problems. On the intercooler issue I have noticed a nice sprinkling of oil in the pipe work Would it be a good Idea to pull the intercooler off and flush it out with a drop of petrol
