It's not cheaper.

That kind of reg is only £250 on DVLA usually so they are making £16 profit.

Hardly a massive markup though is it?

Try checking - it's dearer at DVLA...

EDIT - here's the proof to save you bothering:

Most personal plates make me  , tenuous spellings of dodgy names that nobody but the person driving will comprehend. The ones with the misplaced dots or misspaced letters are also lolworthy.

VRS or FAB ones are not as bad though.

But DVLA price is ALL INCLUSIVE. No other fees, the other companies uysually charge the £80 fee on top.

I know - it wasn't that I was challenging earlier - rather that NewReg are offering the same numberplate for only £400 ALL INCLUSIVE - follow the link above.

The listing was published to show that the £250 quoted by someone else is wrong...

Crossed wires I think.

I was merely pointing out that number plates in the same format are often cheaper direct from DVLA at £250 including transfer fee etc

I was not saying that the specific plate SE09 FAB was on sale for £250

So to put the issue to bed...

DVLA will charge you £405 all in for SE09 FAB

NewReg has the same on their books for £400 all in

and RegTransfers will flog it to you for £519 all in.

In this case it IS cheaper to buy from NewReg but not always.

Well, the decision has been made...

It came down to MY09 FAB or SE09 FAB.

As the reg was going to be for the car and not personal to me, I decided to have SE09 FAB. As it's an SE.

Also "MY" in car terms typically means Model Year, and it's really a 2007 model. :D

Thanks for the suggestions and input guys.
