Citigo vRS

Featured Replies

Makes you wonder if the 1.8t would fit in a Citygo that only comes with a 3cyl...

No, let's not go there, I'm trying to be sensible! :D

You know it makes sense ;)

I prefer that photoshop to a real life MK2 Fab vRS.

I just do, dunno why?

Because it's not on stilts?

Plenty before us have done transplants.

As it happens I'll be selling my superb soon... I'm not sure what for yet, a 10yr old micro or a transplant :) +1

Doubt there will be a vRS Citygo, as has been said the Lupo only sold under 1,000 and even if there was I would think it would have the more compact 1.2 TSi 105 rather than the bulkier 1.4 TSi.

I really like that photoshop picture in post 1.

But the only way to get a VRS is to get cracking with the spanners IMO.

Would love to be proved wrong though, the Citygo is so light a warm version would be a real hoot!

So, I read that Skoda weren't going to make a Citigo VRS, so I made one of my own by SQUEEZING in a Fabia VRS 1.4 TSi engine. Here are some photos of it that I took at work today - Hope you like it!:

Nice but have you really put a vrs engine innit

The front lights look lighter, have you put some upgrades in?

Pics of the outside are nice, but we need more info! :D

Under bonnet pics needed please...

Any details of the build?

What springs did you get for the front to support the heavier engine and box, height looks standard?

You did that quick too, vehicle was only registered less than two months ago.

Oh, and how bad is the understeer?

DVLA still thing it's a 999cc by the way. :)

As above, engine pics or GTFO :)

Hmmm......

Not yet.

I'm curious to know if this really is Bradley Philpot, a rather talented kart racer who lives not far from Bedford Autodrome where the Citygo VRS pictures were taken.

Would be nice to have the benefit of his experience.

Hey guys - I'm afraid you got me! I was pulling your legs and I knew you would know. I WISH I had the Fabia engine in my Citigo but alas I was just seeing what your reactions would be.

Hope you like the custom stickers though (black roof, tailgate, green on the front splitter). I also have the factory fitted skirts and rear spoiler. Wheels are painted black, calipers green. It's standard performance wise though.

I am the Bradley Philpot from near Bedford Autodrome and well done for spotting that this is where the photos were taken. I took it on track after work that day. Very flattered that you said I was talented!

Hope you enjoyed my prank and hope someone actually fits a big engine soon!

Brad

Hi Bradley,

A few of us were at that track recently. We did one of the How Fast sessions and I was driving a Yeti.

I am currently working with Jabbasport to shoehorn a 1.8 turbo (tuned to around 350bhp) and an Audi Quattro 4WD system into a Citygo. Should be interesting. There is a thread in the Citygo section but it's still early days...

That's awesome! I was working with some drivers on a How Fast session yesterday. What kind of time did the Yeti manage around the west? I'm thinking 100 seconds or so?

Out of curiosity Bradley. How come you chose a Citigo?

1:36.086 which I was very happy with. Diesel 4x4, 6 months old with 11k on the clock.

96 seconds is good! Especially with all of the cones out. I chose a citigo because it's just so good on fuel, zero tax, great spec for the price and still spacious enough for all of my racing gear.

I run the British Rental Kart Championship (www.brkc.net) and have a big box of things such as banners that need carting around the country in the back, and the Citigo easily does that. Also I love the PID, sat nav etc.

I work for VWG sometimes so I've seen the quality of Škodas having driven every single VWG car there is from Škoda to Audi.

Are you planning on coming to Bedford again at all?

Yes, we seem to venture up there twice a year, provided enough people want to go. Around April and September.

Hopefully my Citygo project car will make the next one. Would like your comments, might make me faster. :D
