Fabia 1.4 16v 2008

Featured Replies

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. I can't really offer any advice on that but can go some way towards clearing up the following.

Very curiously Skoda were still quoting Mark 1 prices (for both estate AND hatch) in their Mark 2 brochure dated 04/08 ("Effective 1st April - 30th June 2008") which suggests there were large stocks of old models "left over".

My combi (estate) was built to order and delivered mid August 2007. It was 7 weeks from date of order to completion. I'd be surprised if mine was the last Fabia MK1 of the line and more surprised that there were enough orders on estates and maybe saloons (same floor pan) to fill line capacity at that time? As for run out, I know years ago if there was trouble @ Pressed steel in Cowley and panels couldn't be knocked out, the bridge over the dual carriageway to Morris's would run out in days as opposed to weeks and the line would go down. Also, I understood the the SE was peculiar only to the UK market and again wouldn't think these were the last of the hatches off the line?

The first Mk 2 Fabia estates were not available in Eire until spring 2008.

Well the dealer after looking at the stereo again has removed the unit and left a nice taped up hole were it used to be. They have logged a ticket with Skoda UK and the unit may need to be sent away to repair. Apparently this (along with the issue with the engine) is all very unusual and never normally happens.

So either the car is a lemon and they saw us coming when they sold it to us, The dealer is not as proficient as they claim to be or Skoda is still as flaky as a packet of ready brek.

The saga continues.....

The radio has had to be sent fo repair and apparently the dealer believes nothing they did could have damaged the radio so although they carried out a major repair, disconnected the battery for some time and I would assume had to work on the electrics, apparently none of this could have in any way damaged the radio. According o them us driving the car from the garage to our home and turning the radio on then entering our code as per the manual is what has caused the issue.

I would expect this kind of behaviour from a dodgy back street garage, but from a main dealer I find this appaling.
