Hello Brian, stick your question in the Fabia forum, you'll get more people looking and therefore more answers

If you do 5k per year buying a diesel is a bit pointless IMO.

You need to do the miles to get the benefit of the economy, otherwise why have a fairly sedate super economical car.

The petrol is cheaper, quieter, smoother and faster. Significantly cheaper, quieter, smoother and faster.

I have a Fabia GL2 estate by the way. :)

Hi and welcome aboard.

Definitely no point in you getting a Greenline with that sort of mileage.

I personally wouldn't bother with the 1.4 petrol either, the normally aspirated petrol is really sweet 1.2 -try one. If you're after a bit more pep then go for a TSi.

Well bit the bullet and just bought the 1.2 TSI 86PS SE Hatch Candy White I drove it back to back with the 1.4 16V 86 PS and although they have the same output the 1.2 feels a lot more responsive I got the spare wheel as an extra as i hate that gunk stuff .The difference in price between both cars was less than £1k and when you add in the cam belt change (£395 ) at some point in 1.4s life plus the initial saving on the road tax and subsequent tax and the added fuel cost savings it will be around a couple of hundred ££ dearer for the 1.2 so a bit of a no brainer.

Brian

Congratulations! wish you all the best with it.
