Extended Warranty now showing on the Skoda website.

The (potential) problem with the Skoda manufacturer warranty is that it's as good as Skoda want it to be - it's essentially a matter of faith & trust for the customer.

My personal view is that no one is likely to have a problem with the Skoda warranty, as Skoda surely realise just how many customers have been brought to their doors by the repeatedly outstanding results in driver satisfaction surveys & they sure as hell wouldn't want to jeopardise that.

However, it is a pity that the 'warranty' isn't more of a maintenance contract, whereby anything that fails gets repaired or replaced - it is (simply) a warranty against manufacturing defects. It would work brilliantly for me, as my mileage is low - it would be harder for someone who had done 60,000 or 80,000 miles to prove that a gearbox problem was caused by a manufacturing defect.

Imagine arguing it in court:

What's a Skoda?

A budget car brand m'lud, popular with the lower orders I believe

Where are they made?

Mainly the Czech Republic m'lud, though I believe they're also manufactured in Russia & China

Ah, communist cars are they? And the plaintiff has had no trouble in 60,000 miles, & is now complaining that a gearbox component has suddenly worn out? Telephone my club will you - tell them I'll be early for lunch today

The Manufacturers Extended Warranty can be added (as mentioned) before the car is registered.

An Extended Warranty, such as a Skoda Approved can be added at any time, but will not cover the same aspects as the Manufacturers Warranty.

OK, but mine was added after registration. Car registered on 1st March, collected from dealer on 4th March, and warranty added on that day (4th), as I was not aware it was even available beforehand. Cost me £495 inc VAT. Therefore, there must be some type of dealer over-ride so it can be added later.
