Nope - it's been sat for a couple of weeks so the pads were seized on solid...........and I still got 243mph :p

Thats nothing!!!! My Fabia does 287 in 3rd with the windows down emoticon-0148-yes.gif

And my brakes are made of soap ;)

Good lad im sorry to have doubted the authenticity of your claim for the title  Just think if they were not seized on you might have got 244mph!!!

I removed the brakes from my Audi tonight..... Think I will go for the big 290mph tomorrow..

Are all your motors stuck in second gear or something. :p

You are making me all sad now as my bike wont go that fast :(

Still seven more to go in my re-designed 9-speed DSG ;)

Has it got the new dermatological and hermetically sealed plastic race oil in it?

Of course

It's also got a race can on it, fashioned from a Pepsi Max 330ml tin...........had to be sugar free to keep it running lean

I'll set the scene for you first before i tell you about my journey to work.

It's a 30mph limit along the whole 1/2 mile route from my house to work. There are 2 speed humps to get over leaving my estate all within 100m of a 90deg left hander i have to take. There on it's 1/2 mile to a 180deg hairpin before reaching the gate at work 100m after the hairpin.

Now for the feat of sheer brilliance

This morning i travelled to work in my Octy vRS 2.0TSi 11 Speed DSG (11 forward gears and 2 reverse). By the time i reached the 90deg left hander i was already doing 143mph according to satnav. I powerslid the left hander using a combination of a J-Turn, quick yank of the handbrake and putting my arm out the passenger window to grab hold of the bus stop sign to aid the cornering. Once on the long straight i approached the hairpin and was doing 276mph according to GPS. I knew i needed to go faster to ensure i had enough downforce to make the hairpin so the car was dropped into 3rd speed increased to 286mph (had to lift slightly to let a mother and child cross the road) and i pulled up at the front gate before i left home. It's a good job i fitted the roof bars as they aided with the downforce. At the weekend i also made sure my brakes worked well by cleaning them and then covering them in oil as it bugs when they rust up in the rain.

Oh and my wife was driving who is 6 1/2 months pregnant ;)

I think we have a winner :dBut not if while doing my fav bit the Barter Simpson style cornering you failed to take a pic with other hand and post it online at same time.

Sorry if butting in on a private joke ,but I thought you might be interested in a time'ed run I did this morning in the scout and caravan

From the Maypole island down the A435 to Becket island I managed 228 mph ,I was a little disappointed in this I then realised I had a Fray Bentos pie in the oven

and a100 Practical Caravan mags in the van so I ate the pie and binned the mags ,and on the return leg I got 236mph Result !

Sorry mate no pic as at the time i was replying to the laboratory in CERN working out a calculation for an even faster particle than the "god" particle on my phone calculator. We have decided to call it the "LukeRo55ey" Particle. :)

Bloody caravanners!! Always clogging the roads up!

Is the A46 a 60mph limit?

Besides my stock 105PD Elegance* does that in reverse, with the dog driving.**

* ok, not quite stock.....Pear flavoured Jelly Belly air-freshner on board!

** Dog's been dead 5 years.

Is it even possible to get 148mph out of a Fabia? What was the speedo reading at that time? Is it stable at those speeds? Does the glovebox still rattle? Would HIDs make it go faster? Who is this super-hero? Sarge?

Is the A46 a 60mph limit?

I was on the A46 this evening and can confirm there is no speed limit unless sign posts indicate otherwise but I wasnt in the Blue Bruiser so didn't get above 200kph :(

Would HIDs make it go faster?

I think they are the first stage of the warp drive propulsion system if you aim them to the fabled -1 setting (mod required) time travel is a real possibility!!!

You are all making me so jealous - I've only managed about 210mph pushing it as hard as I could.

I think I might have to get back in and drive again - this get fit quick new years resolution is doing my head in.

FUBAR, the only difference between my original post and Carl's is that mine is 100% TRUE

I would have produced the photo, but due to my Apollo-like speed the camera van spontaneously combusted

Lol, I would have thought that would have been the badly installed DRLs flashing on and off ;)

I like your thinking, are you going along the lines of them flashing fast enough in the right frequency to tear a hole in the space time continuum?

Your brakes are slowing you down obviously causing excessive drag by simply draining the fluid you will save so much weight that alone can give another 50mph!

You didn't pull a Bart Simpson style move to get around some tricky bends

I get to 88mph in my octy. & it just leaves flames on the road & i can end up further back than i started or far enough forward to get overtaken by a flying train with a doc brown at the controls!!

 DAM YOU! I would have thought of that one sooner or later :wonder: :dull:
