£310 protected NCB age 36 and missus a named driver, car parked on street in a medium risk area.

Kricky £2500 for a 20 year old on a monte!? good lcuk to ya but i couldn't afford that (im 20 also BTW). That was one of the biggest features when looking to buy a new car, the insurance, as it would be the 'killer' payment year on year. similar to other 20ish year olds on here im paying ~£1000 with admiral.

unfortunately as a result of fraud and a claim culture the cost of insurance is now ridiculous for youngsters,i really do feel sympathy with young drivers trying to get insurance.

just renewed mine £1983 on my fabia 1 :-( one day ill ave a vrs lok

To be honest it wasnt much better when I passed ...well lets just say it wasnt this century.

I remember being quoted nearly £1000 for a 1.4 Nova...decided to stick with my bike until I was old enough for the company car.

23 - 4 years no claims £62/month for 10months bonus accelerator admiral VRS

Got quoted £28000 yes 28GRAND for an audi A3 with less power than my vrs.........insurance for youngsters is a joke

I'm using LV as well, where are these cash back deals

Hi Fabia, just go to one of the cashback sites (I mostly use 'froggybank' link below) and check what insurance deals are going at the time you need to renew. You must register on the site then go through the site to the company offering the best deals. Sometimes when your renewal comes around there may not be much in the way of cashback offers, but sometimes there are some brilliant ones going. The best I've had back is £80 cashback on car insurance, £60 cashback on home insurance, and a host of other cashback deals on just about everything else. Mrs EM and me had over £1,500 cashback on all sorts last year alone but it's run into many thousands over the years. It can take up to 3months to get the money into your account but it's money in the bank as they say! Any big or small purchase can qualify, TV's, hi-fi's, fridges, furniture etc.

seems theres a real mixed bag of prices here, im just pleasantly surprised its still cheap considering i keep getting reminded on how its a performance car, least the insurance doesnt replicate that, thank god

its all a win win for some at least

Its ridiculous isn't it? Althought I got quoted 32k for a Nissan Skyline R34, safe to say I didnt go ahead with buying it after I seen that :wonder:

Its mental the prices these companies come up with, the most i ever paid was a staggering £800 for Nissan Pulsar GTIR although it was 12years ago when i was a mere 24.

Thats a not bad price for a Pulsar considering how crazy they can get.

I was looking at a minimum of £4300 for a 1.3 glanza with less power than my vrs

yeah i bet i couldn't get it anywhere near that now and i am 36 also with 16mpg avg i couldn't afford to ever drive it.

BTW also don't underestimate your job title making a difference! There's a tool on money saving expert that shows you how much different job titles cost.

I manage a charity that helps people re-train and find work...being a 'manager' is apparently high risk! perhaps because it's vague?

I changed my job title to 'training advisor' (as recommended by moneysavingexpert) which means that most insurers now assume I'm in the educational sector which dropped my insurance a further £50.00.

As long as your job title applies (i.e. relates to your job and isn't a lie) then it's all above board.

HUH!!! Im 20 with two years no claims and on my monte im paying out 2500!!! when will my insurance drop!!!???? lol and what company is that with? and is it fully comp?

Seriously, you need to be looking around for alternatives.

My insurance this year was best so far thanks to Chris Knott.

Last year it was £550, this year £460 fully comp with business use. 7yrs ncb, no points, parked on drive, living in a bloody BD postcode :(

The MK1 costs more to insure but am sure thats because of the job my missus has and she uses it for work.

52 - insured with L-V 12 years no claims. Protected. £343
