Do all BMW drivers drive like this one?

Featured Replies

Yep, I'd say that's breaking the law. It was on/ before the double white line :S

Solid white line, so I would say yes

Yup 6 points that!

Overtaking on a solid white line- yes. Surprised they indicated- those aren't usually standard fit... ;)

And not all BMW drivers do drive like that. One of my best friends has a 135i Coupé and drives it beautifully. Fast... but beautifully.

To answer the thread title, no - they don't.

Breaking the law, yes, as the overtake didn't complete by the time the solid line had started on your/their side of the road. The beginning of the overtake looked 'OK' to me though, but it would have been obvious to them that the solid line began immediately after hatching.

You could tell by the positioning and what looked to be fairly aggressive throttle control that they were impatient as soon as the lights went green....

in my opinion, yes!

not meant to enter a hatched area on the road, and they have then crossed onto the opposite carriageway where there is a solid white central line

No, not all BMW drivers are like that, many are worse and a select few are probably better!

Yes, wrong side of a solid white line passing a vehicle which was not stationary or doing less than 10mph (seem to remember those as the croteria.).

I'm amazed, a BMW with working indicators!!! :o Oh, and yes, breaking rules of the road!!

To echo what has been said above...

How on earth did you find a BMW with working indicators ?!?!?!?! :o

Good job BMW dont make white vans!! :giggle:

I didnt think you could overtake on hatched markings either?

As long as they have a broken line around them you can enter with caution, but probably frowned upon by the police.

Some BMW drivers are alright, they even give way! :)

Then you woke up??? ;):D

haha!!

If the road had been a little straighter and no double white line and no junctions it may have been fine. But because it wasn't then it's not. If that makes sense :D

Hatching would need to be surrounded by a solid white line for it to be prohibited. But as said, it would be frowned upon.

In that instance, it's been used to keep the road alignment around the turn right lane.

God could you imagine?!

It would be like a recreation of an army wife waiting at their doors in hope their husband returns from driving his BMW white van

What gives the op the right to film and put onto an open forum though?

There must be some all so perfect drivers on here who NEVER cross a double white line!

Give over!!

I know i never cross double white lines or the solid single white line if it's on my side and i only enter the hatching unless absolutely necessary.

Never knew that. I was taught to use them in a large vehicle but always assumes you couldn't use them in a car for some reason lol.

As for the solid white line, I don't know about else where, but round here they are only in places where visibility is an issue for an overtake or there are junctions so it not safe anyway.

No problem using a hatched area provided it's safe to do so and it's bordered by a broken white line.

As for the video - I've seen far worse examples of driving and the overtake (legality aside) didn't look particularly bad. Funnily enough I had the pleasure yesterday of following an idiot in a company-signed Octavia who was hanging off the bumper of a rather sensibly driven BMW and swerving impatiently side to side. Went on for about 25 miles.

I won't bother posting up the video :D

25 miles? Should he have pulled over to let the following car past?

Had there been an opportunity, yes, but rush hour on the motorway meant there was nowhere for him to go, making the aggression from the Skoda driver even more pointless.
