Columbus file deletion

Featured Replies

My Octys Columbus is driving me slightly potty.

I'm trying to delete the previous owners music files from the HDD.

I go through the selection, delete, are you sure you want to delete process but they're still there!

Is it possible these files have been protected?

For the sake of musical taste... HELP ME!

I'm sure someone will be along with help for you, but first tell us what you found! :D

You cannot simply delete it all in one go sadly, try deleting a single track and see if that goes.

Is it possible to remove the drive, caddy it up and connect it to a PC? Removal and replacement of music would be a breeze at this point. :)

not possible sadly.

not possible sadly.

Aptly and somewhat embarassingly... Erasure!

Lets just say there is a clash of musical tastes.

I've been trying to delete album files which doesn't work, neither does deleting individual tracks.

Removing the drive sounds a little beyond my comfort zone.

It seems I'm following the right method but to no avail. Has anyone had a silmilar issue and found a workaround?

Luckily I can resort to the SD card.... or humming to myself but thanks for the offer! :D

I'd REALLY like to be able to clear the hard drive.

Is there some factory reset or would that lose my maps too? I don't have a nav disc.

:S

I asked the same question when I got my Columbus

Everything except what is actually playing can be deleted via the on screen menu prompt. It took me ages to work out that to delete that one final track you need to download something of your own from SD card onto the hard drive, get the Columbus to actually play what you had just added, and whilst it is doing so look at the file directory and delete the previous track that you don't want.

I don't think there is any way you can wipe the hard drive completely.

Hey Mike

Thanks for the info. The issue is I've tried deleting albums & individual tracks but the bad music won't go away! :S

I'll have another crack at it today and see what happens. I'm no ICE tech but I'm sure I'm follwing the right steps which, tbh look pretty simple, just not getting the result... Weird & frustrating!
