Adrian Flux Very very bad service!

Featured Replies

IMHO I'd get the FSA involved, as if what you say is true it blatantly falls well well below the standards required.

Failing that a complaint to the insurance company that provide the policy or the following will usually get you satisfaction:

- Put in writing your complaint to the company's complaints dept.

- Wait for a letter back detailing what they are going to do.

- If you don't get an update, then check the ombudsmans details are on your ins policy docs (They have to be)

- Write a complaint to the ombudsman, who will investigate the complaint at the insurance providers expense.

Ironic really since the below link was a July 2008 blog post on the adrianflux.co.uk website:

http://webcache.goog...Adrian+Flux+FSA

I've had issues with daft quotes from these guys when I once tried to get a quote, but I have to be fair and say that many insurance companies provide daft quotes if you're not their target customer, so that's hardly a crime.

I really really wish I'd seen this post before I fell into the Adrian Flux trap.

I felt so aggrieved by this I specifically registered here to put a post on (I'm a BMW owner so please don't hold that against me).

I have just moved my insurance from SwiftCover (happy-ish with service, just not renewal price) to Adrian Flux. I moved both of our cars (BMW 530d - standard and BMW 335d - modified). In all both policies have cost us 1200 quid. All was well until I needed to prove the NCD. SwiftCover have been terrible at sending this through the post. We were told, by AF via email, that the policy on the 530 would expire if we did not send them this NCD proof. Finally we got the posted proof from SwiftCover 5 days before the policy with AF was to expire. 7 days before the policy expiration I rang to tell them my woes with the NCD proof and they moved the deadline to mid September.

I emailed the details through to their automated email address and hoped all would be well. I had no response and unfortunately was working away in the week so couldn't ring to check it was. Having received post on the day before the cancellation stating again that it would be cancelled tomorrow I thought that it just crossed in the post with my email confirmation of the NCD. On the day of cancellation leaving me no choice (still no comms from them) we took out insurance from another company to make sure we were covered.  I also moved my 335 insurance to a multicar over the weekend, which was much cheaper too as it turned out. I rang today to confirm the cancellation and make sure the refund was coming to find out that the policy was still active.

After talking about cancellation and describing the situation I was told that due to cancellation fees and commission that we were only entitled to a refund of about 580 quid!!! So how long have I had the policies? 6 months, 8 months? Nope 6 weeks!! that's 600 quids worth of insurance for 6 weeks. How do I complain about this I asked? "I'll see if a manager is available.... No there are no managers available to help".

I am absolutely appalled, disgusted and shocked that they are allowed to get away with this. I'm not saying they won't be there for you if you do need them and have an accident, but seriously take a good LONG look at the small print before you entertain insuring with these people. In my eyes they are just, well I won't say as I'm better than that. I will NEVER EVER use them for insurance of any kind and will do my best to make sure everyone I know avoids them in the future.

Be warned...

Be warned...

Can i suggest you speak with trading standards as the law has changed since this thread was started and they are no longer able to charge huge cancellation fees. I would agree that there customer service is dire!!

Best wishes,

Thanks for the advice.

A "manager" rang me today and before I even had chance to threaten them with taking this to the Financial Ombudsman she already had reviewed the case and was willing to drop all of AF charges and just pro-rata the insurance cover for the 6 weeks.

We're still 280 quid out of pocket, but I can stomach that better than 600!!

I've had nothing but joy from Adrian flux to be honest!

I'm with them now on the octy...£630 comp, protected!

The only times I've ever moved my cover are when they can't beat my renewal price!

Just don't try and cancel a policy with them as you might change your mind

Hi, that's a good resolution - I wonder how many people just paid their ridiculous charges without question.

Come on Flux be transparent and tell us over the last 3 years how many cancellation charges have you reviewed and how many have you threatened with a bailiff ?

TBH- I'm not impressed. I tried to get a quote on here and gave up .i went over to PH and had problems with my car make type. FFS ,Blokes it's a bog standard 1.4TDI Furby - I had to jump hoops to find it. Then my personal data- I drive a bog standard car, with a lot more than 9 years NCB , 47 years experience and about 2.5 milion miles . I don't drive anything hot, or have a bad record. My only problem is type 2 diabetes controlled with tablets ,for which DVLA SAYS "ta ,SIR, BUT WE ARE NOT INTERESTED"

My impression of AF quotation site was not pleasant. I almost though ti was designed by students at a local college. And if the first experience is not favourable, do I want to deal with them if I ever have to claim .

Hmmm, we're now experiencing problems adding some simple business use to the policy, to the extent that I've now referred the issue to Dan for help/clarification!

We're both in our 40's with a shed load of clean driving history & the cover addition is really simple/straightforward in relation to occasional employment requirements, but what we have is a flat no with no supporting explanation! They should be aware we'd be happy to pay a bit more as long as it's not stupidly disproportionate.

I hope the scenario people have highlighted isn't true such that AF are ok if everything is bulk standard but as soon as you deviate from this!! :wonder:

We look forward to Dan's response.

Have you tried Brentacre?

Have you tried Brentacre?

No to be fair we haven't but have made some headway with AF so hopefully on the way to resolve!

Thanks to Dan for his input.

I've been with Greenlight for a year now, they insured my full stage 3+ ST with constantly changing spec for the cheapest price I could find. Along with that all mods were FOC on the policy, a simple PM to either Neil or Will answered any questions, alterations, additions etc. Policy included every conceivable extra as well

Fantastic service from people who understand cars, car parts and modifications. Would definitely recommend...
