The cost of repair is £6500....

I'll take it that its gonna be written off! Just waiting for the ins to make a decision.

What is the current value of that Beemer before the accident of course?:)

How one goes about buying back a write off from the insurers?

Valued at £1500 so its no fees able in my eyes to repair. As for buying it back I need to phone the ins Monday to discuss what happens now.

Looks like a straight write off then. Let us know about the buy back thing as they will not be offering you more than £1200 me thinks ...

I'd be happy with that, maybe a bit less with the car back. I'm set to make between £600-£800 off the bits alone so I'll still come away with a profit ;)

Don't forget my place in the queue. :D

Hope it all goes to plan!

Valuation will be in later!

The engineer feels it'll be a total loss haha.

Good for you as the value of the "wreck" will be scrap value so your "buy-back" value should be low :)

One thing ive learnt over the years is when you have an accident you never let the police arrange the recovery, always sort that out with your insurance or your breakdown cover.

Assuming they dont mark it as Cat B or Cat A, in which case it will be off to the crusher with no option to buy back.

Fine, but can't you buy it then as a scrap and not as a car? Before it gets crushed of course.

It wasn't arranged it was forced!

I had a mate on his way with a trailer to fetch it and all of a sudden mr pc decided they were taking them both instead.

Good luck, though i'm sure you'll get a bucket load of cash for the bits.

Not a bad outcome there dude!

£700 just off the good bits :)

How much did you get back form the insurers? I understand that £850 you paid for the Cat C wreck, right?

Got £850 plus the car back mate

A fair outcome I suppose, although it's taken a while!

Not too Bad then!

Now you need to start a new thread for new chariot :)

As soon as this is stripped and gone and I've found a new motor I might do that :)
