CTEK Charger

Featured Replies

Our Lupo doesn't get used much- we travel to work together, and I don't like to drive the Lupo in traffic due to my backache, so it can go weeks without use. However, we do sometimes need 2 cars, and it doesn't cost a lot to keep, so we keep it. One problem we do have is the battery tends to go flat, so I'm considering an outside socket, and a CTEK or similar charger, with a plug/socket to connect to the carso it can stay charging most of the time. Anyone got one? Suggestions of model, and connector cable?

Hi Chris

sounds like a good idea, but just watch out when fitting a outside socket, there are safety implications, but you mention CTEK, there is a

copy that Aldi or Lidl sell, which I use with the same reason, but mine is inside a garage.

I have a 3600 maintenance charger that I used to use for my S2, and a much larger one (can't remember the model) that I bought for use in the workshop. Very happy with both of them

Yep, it will be a proper outdoor one, and RCD'd. I'll probably get a sparky to do it, TBH.

Thanks both.

I use a solar powered charger that is hassle free. Just plug into cigy lighter and away you go. Works for me as car is outside.

Hein Gericke do their own branded maintenance charger at sensible money. Currently on offer too!

I've had my Ctek charger for about 4yrs now.......It's a mid range model and I have the plug fitted to the battery....so just lift the bonnet and plug the charger in (my car has a nice garage).......very good.......also the 5c setting is good as in winter the garge gets lower than that!!!!!!

Thanks to everyone for their input. I think I'll be going for it: got to arrange a sparky: the outside socket will be handy for power tools/the vacuum too.
