NEW VAULXHALL CORSA VXR NURBURGRING 2012

Vauxhall revealed today the new 2012 Corsa VXR Nurburgring special edition which features quite a few important upgrades. For starters, 2012 Corsa VXR Nurburgring edition has an increased power output. It uses Vauxhall's 1.6-litre turbocharged engine that's been tuned to develop 205 PS at 5,750 rpm (up from 192 PS) and 250-280 Nm of torque (up from 230-266 Nm). The extra horsepower translates in improved performance, of course. Vauxhall says the 2012 Corsa VXR Nurburgring is able to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 6.5 seconds and that it has a top speed of 143 mph. The 2012 Vauxhall Corsa VXR

Nurburgring edition has also a few other party tricks, including a mechanical, multi-plate limited-slip differential which offers improved traction. Vauxhall says the new LSD is able to tone down the understeer too.

The chassis of the 2012 Corsa VXR Nurburgring has been updated too, as it was developed on the Nordschleife. The 2012 Nurburgring Corsa VXR features bespoke Bilstein springs and dampers, and a reduced ride height (20 mm at the front and 15 mm at the rear).

Only my opinion to which everybody is entitled to their own. But I dislike vauxhalls with a passion. Driven many including some of the sportier models and all have been terribly uncomfortable and kitted out cheaply. I had the choice last month between a vxr (corsa or astra) or a mk2 vrs and I chose Skoda. My mk1 vrs was a superb car and I am well and trulely happy with Vag cars and cant see me buying anything outside their group for a while.

vRS forever for me a wolf in sheeps clothing

Vxr = Chav

Clio = Momo glove wearers only

Seat FR = MPG watcher

Swift sport = Stick to making motorbikes

Civic type R = Kamikaze car

Golf gti = Sounds like a golf advert

Citroen ds3 = Inspector clouseau

Amazing!! Made my day this hahaha!

I believe Wauxhall do a life time warranty or 100k for the first owner great Peace of mind

But you'd want to get shot of the car a long time before that! :giggle:

I owned a corsa VXR before we bought a new vrs!the corsa was always in gettin warranty work done wheel bearings fuel tank sender then the turbo 9000 miles come on my mrs drove the car!!!! Pile of c##p!!!!!!! Just my view tho.

I really was looking for a car with greater performance as an upgrade to my saxo (which obviously wasn't hard to find a car better than a **** saxo). The main issue for me is money, and miainly the running costs, not the outright purchase. Being only 20, the insurance was the biggest running cost factor for me, and to have a 'fast' car for my age is mind blowing (atleast it is for me). and ofc with the 20% VAT deal, the car was (and still is?) the best performance/money car?

So yes i would have looked at other competitors, but the insurance seem to be 'cheap' (well cheaper) for the 1.4TSI vs 1.6t or the 2.0 for the clio cup. this allows me to have a car i want, for a relative cheap price

p.s. it also came in my fav colour - green, althoguh i perfer the focus rs green haha

All corsas are very expensive by rrp, but there are BIG discounts for very dubious criteria, like basically if anyone you know is a unison member of nhs worker or armed forces or basically is alive, probably £8k off the £22k list at a guess.

I've just visited a skoda dealer 2 vrs on the forecourt 1 green 1 white £17,750 ? They won't be selling them quick IMO , makes the VXR more affordable,

the VXR is a good car, but its let down by its "ned" imagine and stupidly high insurance.

Seboni - that still makes the VXR £5k more expensive for 20bhp more, less room, less mpg and a harder ride :D

That is only when taking the tax free deal into consideration though. My car cost me £14200 tax free with some additional discount. If i was to buy this now it would be £18405 before i bargained any discount.

Now if the VXR is potentially available for certain people( i fall into the criteria for big discounts) at upto £8k lower than list price so maybe £14-17k that would be a bargain in comparison to the fabia vRS. Even with the tax free deal.

For the Fabia to be specced equally it would need:

Aftermarket DSG LSD £1200 fitted

Brembo 4 pot brakes £1200 fitted (new)(based on Ibiza cupra BBK)

Aftermarket Power hike to 200hp £500

Thats ontop of the price of the Fabia which handles like a wet sock compared to the polo, Clio, punto, VXR....

Plus the berg VXR wont depreciate that bad either as there are going to be less than 1000 in the UK so that isnt a factor.

I still wouldnt buy one, but i do think its a better hot hatch than the Fabia vRS. There are to many flaws when standard for it to be a real contender as a hot hatch back, BUT Skoda dont aim it at the hardcore enthusiast.

Despite the above, i really like the Fabia now :giggle:

Not sure your right about the deprecaition my mates got an artic vxr which there are only 500 off and his was 10grand with 3000 miles

I was waiting for Sys response to this thread, as he usually talks a great deal of sense and looks at the wider view on things

The Corsa doesn't come as an Estate so win win for me :D

You say that but judging by the Fabias on autotrader, id be looking at £11.5-12.5K for mine. So despite saving £4500 over the list price due to the VAT deal i would be out of pocket by £1700-2700.

Or if i had bought it new you would have lost in the region of £6200-7200 with only 8000 miles on the clock.

Its better than the arctic VXR(although that is just a Corsa VXR with a different name and paint job!). I do suspect that this berg edition will hold its value better as it will be much more desired over the std VXR based on the extra goodies bolted to it and power.

I would have prefered the estate i think. needed it a fair few times now.

Prices of the Fabia will differ a lot as some dealers are offering good prices on p/x even against the ones bought on tax free deal - mine/sy's etc

Can't beat the car for the price I paid, wouldn;t have found a better brand new car that's as fast and spacious.

the VAT offer was the deal maker for me. Wouldnt have looked twice else. Alot of car for the money, especially when you consider on the octy vRS/Golf GTI etc the DSG is a £1210+ option!!!, yet on ours its std.

And at £19k it would have made it expensive in my eyes - seeing as the MK1 vRS was £12.5k...

I didn't get any VAT deal, too late.

I got mine from DTD and it was the reason that it was both pretty well kitted out, but was an automatic.

Let's just drop the whole comparison with the Corsa, it's a silly comparison IMO emoticon-0143-smirk.gif

As someone mentioned 2 pages ago, who buys a Vauxhall new? :p Same goes for Renault.

Agree with Sy that the Berg VXR will be worth more simply because it's been overhauled so much compared to basic. Astra's are worth almost nothing and Corsa's aren't far behind.

As far as p/x goes, I was very happy with what I got considered mine was a 10 plate with 21k.

If u don't mind wat did you get PM me if you'd rather, cheers
