Fabia Air Con Pressure Switch

Featured Replies

I have a 06 Fabia 1.9D and had it in the garage three times until the last they said its leaking because of the pressure switch. But they want well over £100. Can't remember the figure as it was before xmas and I didn't need it till spring/summer. I have seen the part from a dealer for £36 but want to ask anyone that knows are they easy to change yourself as there is no gas now in the Air Con.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kevin.

Easy to change - I'd think so, but there will probably still be R134 in the system so you would end up venting it to atmosphere - very anti-social! So, what will you gain by changing this sensor yourself - I suspect not much as you do not sound like you will have the necessary tools to first pressure test this system, vac it out, then back fill with the correct load of R134 and maybe some lubricating oil. If you are planning to whack in quite a few cans of Halford's stuff, then you should quickly exceed what a proper place would charge you for the complete repair, and maybe even still have a leak somewhere else in the system. I'm not trying to be smart, just pointing out what might happen to any savings that you are trying to make. These systems are designed as "critical charge" chiller systems so they do not tolerate over charging or under charging if you want them to run well.

Tip, probably best to get a mobile A/C operator out to sort it.

What I was thinking of doing if someone told me it was easy. Change the pressure switch myself then take it back the garage that filled it and told me there was no leak and hopefully they will fill it back up for free. sound ok
