people on coilovers

Featured Replies

i believe on full lock my arb is rubbing off the chassis. im running mondeo shortened drop links with kw v1 coilovers anyone else suffer this? im running standard 16" wheels when i put on 17" instead on rub on full lock its knocked when turning. ive seen people talk about chassis notch but im not going down that road. there must be a solution. i cant deal with knocks which is 1 of the reason the 17" wheels came off so i only had an odd noise when on full lock.

this is a bad quick illustration but might help my case

green part is the chassis

Have you tried it with normal drop links? Not sure this will make any difference but I ran all the way down on coilovers and used standard drop links on 16's and never had any knocking what so ever :) might be worth a try, easy to do as well

KW's don't require shortened drop links do they?

They don't? Would be good to find out

Mines Lowww on kw's. On 17's original drop links no noises at all,

Drop links aren't too expensive from skoda I don't think, might go get some

My mate ran on kw's slammed with standard drop links with no knocking, don't think kw's require them.

Wrong links kw run on stock links

Mine runs fine on shortened links

Why are kw different from other coilovers that need shortened ones?

mine are weitec same as ap. I know some of the cheaper brands require shorter links but you tend to find that the higher end coilovers are designed to work with oem drop links etc.

So the shortened ones I've got for when i fit.mine were a waste of money?. . .

just got 2 new oem droplinks from skoda. £45 ouch

I'm running Weitec's with standard droplinks, no issues here. It's all to do with the height of the droplink mounting on the shock strut. KW/Weitec/AP all have this in a different position so you don't need shortened links

excellent going to change mine over tomorrow hopefully. i assume theres no issues with arb hitting driveshaft with longer ones?

Sorry to hijack the thread slightly but would I need shorter drop links if I drop the car 25mm with Eibach springs.

Mines also on Kw's with standard drop links... no knocks.. :) :)

no mate

I'm impressed, that's a good guess at the drop links from me :)

Scott, did standard drop links sort the problem?

I'm running Eibach coils with shorter drop links and I'm getting some knocking which sounds like it's ARB related so I'd be interested to know.
