Suspenssion Springs Issue

Featured Replies

Hi Guys. Wonder if any one of had the same problem. I was at ASDAs today and there are lots of speed bums on the way out and going over some of them but faster than I normally do I heard some kind cracking/squeaking noise from the front Suspenssion. When got home I tried to look and find what it was but couldn't find anything. My question is... If you have the 17" Skoda Trinity wheels with 205 45 17 tyres and drive little too fast over the speed bump is it possible for the tyre to hit or touch the suspenssion spring and make the noise as this is what I think the actual noise was...???? And if so should I worry about if. Any help or comments are appreciated.

Cheers. Matty

woudnt have thought they would rub unless you've lowerd it.

could be the wishbone bushes begining to wear or just quite simply you where going to fast and the springs where hitting the bump stops

Thanks Barrheadred. My car isn't lowered...So it might be that I was going too fast, but is 10/15 mph over the speed bumps too fast..????

ive booked mine in for tuesday with the same issue

i just thought it was all the crap i carry in the boot so i emptied it and still the same, not just speed humps theres another really bad bit of road i use. i even removed the spare wheel in case that was jumping about. its like a two stage noise, the up travel and then down travel

dont hear it with the music on so maybe its been doing this for ages. theres only 2 places i use where it does it so easy to miss it anyways

im also standard springs etc and i ALWAYS crawl over speed humps

seems its something to do with the rear seats

theres a skoda brief out about this issue as its becoming quite common

got the car back and i can still just about hear it on the up travel but its nothing compared to what it was and if it gets no worse ill leave it be

Could it be the issue we had been discussing here?

Mine comes always from the rear right side. It does sound like you've got something going loose in the boot. Not a loud noise and definitely not originating from the suspension. I've also suspected the spare wheel but to no success. Do you think we could be talking about the same thing?

could be the very same, didnt speak with the mechanice but i was told rear seats and theres a technical bulletin about it

i only really had it over speed humps which made it awkward to replicate to the mechanic but over some very rough road it did replicate it a little which was enough for him to diagnose it

i knew it wasnt anything in the boot as i emptied it all, even took the spare wheel and tool stuff out. much happier now :)

Well, I hope this bulletin has reached the "exotic" France... Fingers crossed my dealer will/should be able to fix it as well... (I hope I don't get the reply I got when I asked for the Eibach springs: "Er, we know nothing about it")

I've noticed lately that in mine when going over speed bumps or similar obstacles the boot cover squeaks. When I say boot cover I mean the part between the back seats and rear window (don't know the English term unfortunately). Do a test drive without it - just a suggestion.

Have done that as well with no luck! Thanks for the suggestion anyway...
