I'm sure current owners especially private owners wont be keen on this question....

But I wonder if Skoda would ever make the prices more accessible to private buyers along the ideas of their vat offers, interest free credit etc currently on all the other cars BUT yeti ?

Or is this unlikely because its one of their premium cars and sought after ?

Just wonder as I could seriously see myself getting one (perhaps even more than something like the upcoming "mission l" to be honest).

With such possibilities as vat free would persuade me to buy and also "upgrade" to a better car, as I'm spoilt with a current vrs so it would be nice to have something with (if not comparable performance) then something at least a big lively at least (e.g. the 1.8 TSI).

I would say as long as there are anough people willing to wait for months to get their Yeti there is no reason for Skoda to do anything like preparing more interesting offers. At the and of the day they are selling cars to earn as much as possible ...

And having said that I would love to have paid less :giggle:

Agree. It's interesting that VAG responded to the success of the Yeti with an Audi Q3 (ie higher cost) rather than a Seat version (ie low cost).

The q3 is a very good car to drive, better than the q5, and would definitely be my next car to aspire to after I get my yeti .........

Yes, that's what I think.

The other models have more competitors/use old tech (Fabia is on same platform since 1999) where the Yeti is constantly getting good reviews after three years and there is always a lack of stock and factory built slots

The only way I can see Skoda offering any no-VAT type deals on the Yeti is if they really increase production a lot.

And I can't see that happening in the near future, even if they sold twice as many with a no-VAT deal they'd probably earn the same as now. So there is no point for them.

Didn't like the Q3 myself. Nice inside, but it's too bland (like many Audis) and the optional extras are expensive, when many are standard on an Elegance Yeti. Much bigger bill for a bland car, just to get a premium badge IMO. They do a good interior though.

Exactly. If they are selling like hot cakes despite long delivery times, even after 2 1/2 years in the UK and longer in the rest of the world, then why on earth would they lower the prices. A similarly spec'd car to mine retails at £28k now :giggle:

I do like Audis (I've had them since 1996) and the Q3 would be nice but too expensive. My current A3 is a really well made and could almost justify the price difference in intangible feel good factors.

But in the real world, went to buy a Yeti yesterday (at last - I actually found a 2009 brochure in my pile of 'research' ) I always felt since I saw one that it would be my next car.

The first dealer apologetically offered £500 off as they made so little money on the other Skoda 20% off deals that they had to maintain their margin on the limited number of Yetis they were allocated. And, of course, they could sell them easily at near list.

Next dealer also had little to offer against the web deals initially, but after a lot of discussion when I said I really wanted to buy locally we agreed something not too far off. The p/x was not so good - basically near bottom auction price and both dealers said to sell privately - which I will do with a fall back of p/x if needed at the last minute.

Off to pay the deposit today then wait for 12 (?) weeks.

In the past I've often had to wait similar times for company cars to be delivered so I expected 8+ weeks

ps thanks to all the posters in the Yeti forum for everything I have read over the last few months - it all goes to help me decide things even when I disagree - eg Gobi leather + Steel grey (it was going to be Candy White but if I choose the spec my wife wanted a say in the colour).

I suggest the only likelihood of 'offers' on Yetis will be when the face-lift is about to appear and they will want to get rid of any stocks of old models.

Pretty sure that is the way to do it. For a private sell, the good dealer knows to offset Yeti sale profits against downstream service / repeat custom profits...

 Especially since it's still doing extremely well in comparison tests and is, for example, already lower in cost than the 2nd and 3rd place runners-up in the latest Autoexpress "Best Crossovers" list.

To mirror what has already been said, customers are prepared to wait for the Yeti still, and I cannot personally see Skoda offering any initial savings against the car due to the increasingly popular demand.

I have seen of late some used Yetis (mainly diesel 140) being sold at over the recommended retail price due to customers not wanting to wait 6 months plus.

The Q3 does nothing for me visually and I actively dislike that raked hatchback like rear hatch... It has a nice Audi dash but you can see how hard they tried to make it look less nice than that found in the Q5. Pretty pricey too. If I had wanted a £35,000 SUV my money would be on an Evoque and not a Q3.

As to deals on Yetis: I'm with hmibennet here. There will only be deals on current shape ones once the facelift version gets announced to clear old stock.
