Yeti mudflaps - probably the best 'accessory' I've bought.

Featured Replies

FItted the Skoda mudflaps to my Yeti the other day as I've been driving up and down the country watching the sides and back of the car get absolutely covered in yuck. The shape of the car means everything goes right up the sides. Verdict: they work very well and really minimise the amount of dirt, especially up the front doors. Highly recommended!

I have a front set sat on my desk awaiting the Yeti to fit them to. I too thought that the Yeti i hadon Demo had a LOT of mud thrown up the sides.

I'm happy with them - the car seems to have less mud up the sides. Sure it's not completely avoidable, but I don't want to fit huge floppy things.

Just need to fit the rear door protective foils now...but I might get my mate to do it for me as I'm not that good with my fingers. :)

What aged is your Yeti? Foils have been standard for a good while now!

Early 2010...

You should be able to get the dealer to fit.....I'm sure many people did get the fitted free by their dealer

Like others on here, I got my foils retro-fitted free as a warranty issue on the basis that if they didn't fit them, there would eventually be a warranty claim for respraying the doors - at much greater cost.

It's worth asking your dealer.

And, I agree about the mudflaps. I have fitted them to every car I have ever owned - I wouldn't even consider not doing so.

The dealer I got the car from is an hour away and going from past experience they'd do a worse job than me. I printed off the instructions and it seems easy enough - but my mate is an ex-BMW M-tech and has done bits like this before. He's very kindly offered to do it for me. :)

Just make sure there are no stone chips on the paintwork first, as many Yeti have suffered this which didn't have the foiled fitted.....if there are any then its a warranty job respray & fit the foils.....

being a 'motorway car, I would say that yours is fairly high risk of shone chips where the foils should be...

In that case, be very careful fitting them. They are intended not only to protect the face of the door, but they also wrap round the edge too. They have a whole series of slits along one edge to allow fitting to the curved edge of the door, and the whole area including the back of the door needs to be scrupulously clean.

There have been varying reports here of them not being fitted properly and them looking a mess, or differing in alignment one side to the other. Check the photos in previous threads to see how well, or badly they've been done!

Don't worry my mate is the most competent and careful person I've ever met. Mine has no serious chips so I'm happy to clean the doors and have him fit the foils - I know he will do an amazing job. He has done all sorts for me in the past, including "fixing" stuff that BMW and VW master techs (among others) have bodged or not been able to fix. We have a saying in our house: "everybody should have a Mo". (His name is Mo) lol

I agree that things should be done correctly but the fact they look different on one side than the other will never be noticed by anyone but the owner. It is like people that lost a hubcap (or two) and then buy only one new pair. But instead of putting the matching pair on one side and the old ones both on the other side, they put the new ones across one axle!!!! Doh. No human eye can see both sides of a car at once! But doing it this way it screams a mile off that your hubcaps aren't matching. So with foils, as long as each one looks ok it won't bother me if one is out a few millimetres left to right.

They won't be.... hehehehe.

I had Skoda mudflaps fitted last week to the front and rear of my Candy White Yeti, I do think it has minimised the amount of dirt being thrown up! and i am well pleased.............

I also bought SKODA mud flaps but i was a bit disappointed

with the length so i found some rally type on the net they

were a bit too long and took a bit of cutting about

But they do look good i attached them to the originals !

They have a chrome strip along the bottom edge with aprox

30mm holes along the full length

It has made a big difference
