How can I make a Fabia immovable?

Featured Replies

Fuse's on top top of the battery
There's a fuseboard inside the cabin too - hands up who hasn't found it yet! :)
Yeah parcel shelf out and glove box open and empty also show it's been left empty
Only leave the glove box open if you've checked and the light inside goes out after a predetermined time - like the interior lights (not sure myself). Otherwise you might run the battery down over time.
If they want the car badly enough' date=' they'll just pull it on a trailer.

From what I've heard, a frustrated thief usually takes it out on the car.[/quote']

Agreed, when some TWOCer's tried to steal my aunts car and fail coz it would start they basically kick and smashed the hell out off it which wrote it off.

Have you looked into added extra security to the garage?

The car's fine as standard, no joyrider is going to get past a modern immobiliser without the key, only a professional would manage it, and they're not out breaking into garages to steal Skodas!

As flatfourburble said, you'd be better off securing the garage to stop vandals getting to your pride and joy.

It's rotten that we have to think like this.

My view is if they want it they will have it no matter what you do.

Good advice to keep all valuables,in fact anything out of sight.

Would so love to wire the thing with 10,000 volts though :Yikes: :rainfro:

That's exactly what they do in South Africa, I've been told by one of my old College teachers who lived there that you get alot of hijackers while you're stuck in traffic so they wire up there car and thiefs get a nasty shock of anything up to 50,000 volts  . I'm sure if you've got it in the garage wired up there is no law against it, just as long as its not on the streets otherwise you could just end up frying people who accidently bump in to your car.

Well, the car is empty, I'll go back and take the parcel shelf out, good idea that.

[puts on his Tshirt, bought following his "been there, done that" experience ]

Richard - if the parcel shelf is out, a big flippin Rottweiler in the boot might work - Would need to have an automated feeding system though, supply of air, and a strong clothes peg for your nose, to clean the car when you get back. :D

I have no Rotty to hand. Do you reckon a cat that could love someone to death may help?

Oh and everyone please buy everything I have for sale (more being added soon) so I can pull it back out.

Why not turn the front wheels to an angle (turn the wheel left) and then lock the steering wheel with an autolock steering wheel clamp. Then put a wheel clamp on the front drivers side and one clamp on the rear. If the car is empty fine. Put some newspaper up on the inside of the windows so that nothing is visible. Lock it all up. Cover it in a nice big sheet/blanket. Wrap it nice and tight and put masking tape around it. Then flood your garage with those little polystyrene bits you get as packaging so that the car is completely covered. Close your garage door. Lock it best you can. Then get a nice piece of cast iron say 2 inches thick and 6 to 10 inches wide and a few inches longer than the width of your garage door and bolt it across the garage door. Welding it in places if you can do. Take your keys and give them to your bank for safe keeping in a safe/safety deposit box. Most banks do this sort of thing. Go away and be rest assured, your Skoda is pretty safe. :D
