Coming Soon..... the Yeti Urban (along with pictures)

In Skodas aim to attract an even wider market they have introduced the 'Urban' Edition.

Available in Black, White, Silver and Steel Grey and with the 1.2 TSI (manual) and 2.0 TDI 110 engine the car is SE spec with the following extras.

* 17" Black and Chrome 'Matterhorn' alloys,

* Bluetooth preperation and MFSW,

* Digital Radio,

* Chrome Sill Mouldings,

* Silver Mirror Covers,

* Black Roof Stripes,

* Silver Roof Rails,

* Wheel Arch Extension,

* Black or Red Sports Seats.

Priced at £16,990 and £18,330 respectively it offers customers something slightly different.

Pictures will be added ASAP. How much of a split opinion is there going to be on this car?

Digital Radio.

Does this mean that we will soon see DAB as an option on the Yeti?

That's well priced! The wheel arch extension alone cost me 200 quid + 2 hours labour!

Big Rich - I would anticipate digital radio being available soon(ish), as and when though I wouldn't like to guess. I believe VW it in a lot of their cars now.

My_Yeti - List price for all the extras would be around £2,450, the Urban is priced the same as the SE spec as with immediate effect there has just been a price increase on the 2 engines (£100).

Finally a sporty looking model from SUK! With sport seats and Matterhorn wheels!!!!!!!! BUT stripes?!!?!? They will add stripes but not give us the option of alternative colour roofs?! Stripes look just about passable on a V8 American muscle car but on an SUV?! No thanks. Hopefully a delete option. Though in fairness they are pretty subtle. This Yeti from the 2010 Paris motor show has the stripes on the bonnet and you hardly notice them!

This is a picture of the Matterhorns (these pictures I took at the Geneva Motorshow in March 2011):

Ignore the black roof but this shows the silver mirrors and the "chrome sill mouldings":

I am interpreting them as roof strips - ie what TP has fitted on his car - actually on the roof, not the bonnet.

Thanks, very well priced then!!

Those are the Matterhorns!

And I will apologise for the spelling it was 'strips' not 'stripes'. Yep the same as 'TPs'.

Those wheels look identical to those fitted to the Kia Soul.

Funny, I was looking at the Kia side on the other day and thought it was remarkably Yetilike in side profile.

I think it is the high bonnet and rounded boxy shape.

Ah bless Lee!!!!! That makes sense now. I wonder if they will stick the stips on the roof regardless of there being a sunroof or not?! :giggle: Just kidding.

You can see these strips in this photo:

Those Soul wheels do look very similar. If you want your Yeti bootlet to look huge, just park next to a Soul and open the boot! Laughably small for the size of car. :giggle:

Nah, right click get URL, paste and job done.

NOW: the BIG question: Will we be able to order these Matterhorns as an option on other Yetis?!

Blimey has the Ventnor Blog reached Hertfordshire? Ruddy marvelous this technology thing :) (Ventnor is very close to my old homestead!)

So ESP isn't even an option?

Incredible that it can't find a place in £2450s worth of extras and that Skoda's research suggests that we would prefer any of the above ahead of it.

They are only making 750 of these and I believe will be available from stock.

Yes ESP would be nice over some of the 'prettier' options, I understand you fully.

Drat. So only 3000 Matterhorns in total to ever grace UK soil... :'(

Not too sure about the wheels, could and should put them in to production throughout the range.

I shall keep you notified if these do become available though.

I think the Skoda part number for the Matterhorns is: 5L0 601 025 F FL8

Here's a clip showing the Matterhorns in action:

There's a set of Matterhorns for sale on another Forum, if you're that keen: http://www.club-yeti...read.php?t=2137 :giggle:

Yes that's the number I've got as well (see tyre & rim guide)

Matterhorn Alloy 7Jx17 ET45 - 5L0 601 025 F FL8

Oh roof strips, yes have the kit fitted;

5677115548_5df76a0a4f_z.jpg

Think they go rather well with a white Monster that obviously has no velux.

However I don't like how there fitted. Unlike the side strips which are bonded in place with tape, the roof ones sit on a bead of mastic similar to that used to hold spoilers in place. Found that out when one partly came away and had to be replaced. Had a trip back to Allams, as the local dealer wanted to respray the roof as part of the repair :S

AFIK ESP is only standard on DSGs and 4x4s below Elegance spec, otherwise it is a £420 option.

I guess there's no need to worry though. According to the dealer we decided not to use for my wife's car, there's "really no need for it". "You'll be fine with ABS".

Another dim salesperson then; probably has not got a clue what ESP stands for, or what it can do in terms of safety :no:

Saved me once on the A1 avoiding a lane changer that didn't look before moving :swear:
