Interior fuses

Featured Replies

I'm being very cautious, is the handbook wrong and the fuses are in the right hand end of the dash, not the left hand side as in the user manual?

It is marked as an air bag, and doesn't seem to want to move - does it just need a good yank?

Jerry,

for us, in the DRIVER'S side panel.

Thanks, more yanking then!

Don't forget to push up the slot with a flat screwdriver (as per manual...)- then it's easy!

For those motorsport MSA radio peeps, I know two already on here, I'm going to try a fuse live take off http://www.autoeurope.co.uk/index.asp

Go to fuses/circuit protection and go down a bit! Hopefully this will give me a non fused, non CANBUSsed live 12v to feed my two radios.

The fuse layout does not seem to conform to the handbook, is this normal that things are slightly different?

I'll probably intercept the rear power socket fuse, and run my own fused circuit under the carpet to the passenger seat and keep the wiring in a velcroed ice cream tub box hidden away under the seat.

One day when the weather is better, I'll investigate further finding a way through the bulkhead - a likely spot looks to be behind the fuse box.

Where can I find a list of which fuses are in the CanBus system and which aren´t?

Too late, I got my order in yesterday :giggle:

I'll let you know how it works out.

I'm hoping I can pick up the live side of the fuse holder (with test meter) from, I guess, a substantial direct feed from the battery so avoiding bulkhead issues.

It will then need a bit of fish wire probing to get my wiring to under the passenger seat area :whew:

There is a big supply live going into the fuse box just need to peel the insulation back a bit. The black and blue wires supplying the middle fuses are ignition live.

Sadly on the Yeti unlike the Octavia they don't put a nice handy spade terminal on the end of the bus bar in the fuse box and non of the spare fuse slots are populated.

When you say non of the spare fuse slots are populated, do you mean with fuses or electrically? I have four blank fuse slots.

See post 5, I was going to use an existing fuse slot.

My little fuse adapters arrived today. I can see now what you mean when you say the blank spaces are not populated - no electrical contacts for a fuse.

However, I can't make sense of the owner's book on fuse box layout, and the actual box in the car. Is this yet another "funny" bit of cut and paste from another car's fuse box.

Can anyone confirm how/what the fuses are, and what numbering sequence is used as I can't see any numbers in the plastic fuse hlder panel?

I'm looking to piggy back on the rear power socker fuse - but where is it?

Answered my own question :giggle:

Found the live side of the rear power socket fuse and fed the flying lead fuse adapter from the live side.

I now have a non canbus +ve live feed from, I guess, a direct battery feed.

All I need to do now is adapt my radio loom to this wire. Then smuggle in under the carpet somehow and store coiled up under the passenger seat.

Jerry, it's no good just saying it, we(I) need to know the details!!

Difficult to explain briefly, but if you have a test light or a test meter, it's straightforward.

It has two fuse sockets, one for the original fuse, and the other for the spur. Just got to make certain that the live feed in the fuse board socket goes to the non fused side of the spur socket. Basically it faces downwards, and the live spur is tucked harmlessly out of the way for today :

From here onwards I'll leave to your imagination :nerd:

Thanks for the photo. I ordered a pack of two from ebay over the weekend as I want to feed something other than the radio. I'm happy running that direct from the battery.

Finally got round to peeling back the plastic trim on the sill side from under the fuse box backwards.

I managed to get my arm under the carpet and feed the cables around the front edge of the felt insulation, turn left down the side of the tunnel, and then pop out through the carpet at a convenient pre-cut hole in the carpet under the seat. The felt meets some dense plastic foam in front of the pedals, and I was able to lay the cable snugly in the join.

This wiil do me for the time being, as I'm only paving the way for when I can get my hands on the car for stage rally radio :giggle:

I was up your way Graham on Saturday, putting up pre event signs for a motor sport event in two weeks time in Myherin.

Depending on when, if you need any help give me a shout/PM, Jerry.

Thanks, you wouldn't like this :giggle: - not really suitable for Yetis. The off-roady bits are pretty hairy :whew:All rounds are two day events and not really like a stage rally.

Oh I know them very well!!

I did one of their events in Radnor and they ended up with an insurance claim when the Safety Officer drove into my Freelander!!

I know that complex quite well, having done many events up there, and plenty of it is Yeti friendly. I'm free for either day if you are stuck for a radio. Are you staying in the area?

(Shame they can't spell LLangurig!!)
