Help with airbag fault light

Featured Replies

Airbag light is on so read fault with a 3rd party reader and it comes back that its the drivers airbag so gather it may be a loose conection on the the steering wheel airbag.

The thing is got mot nxt week so if i get fault cleared with vag com will it come staright back on or does it take so many miles before it comes back on.

If you have airbags in your seat, check the connections underneath too. They can sometimes be disturbed by over zealous hoovering.

What was the fault code? Airbag lights come back on straight away if you just clear the fault code.

Had a similar problem the code reader indicated an electrical disruption on my front passenger airbag, I knew what caused this, we moved the seat and disturbed the connector under the seat

I advise against disconnecting/reconnecting as this could cause the airbag to deploy Just push the connector ends together.

Clear the fault with the code reader and see if it has resolved the issue

Disconnect the battery before playing with the connections!!!

Yes the light will come straight back on again.

If it is the steering wheel airbag the fault is probably with the clock spring connector thingy. Alternatively it could be the seat airbag, the wiring for which can be easily disturbed under the seat, it is supposed to be clipped to the underside of the site, but mine regularly falls down.

Also, I know that in most VW Audi Group vehicles, stupid things like winding the seat down too low can trip the seat sensors, if theres anything under the seat at the time. or even heard of the fault light comin up after a buddy slid the seat back too hard/fast in his Ibiza... sensitive little turds they are ..
