0.45x Wide Angle Lens adaptors?

Featured Replies

Hello,

Starting to get into this photography hobby little more now and I originally wanted to look for a simple lens protector on ebay for a simple £2, as I was browsing I found these 0.45 angle lenses. I tried to look at some reviews and example pictures, some seem to look ok, some seem to look horrible, phone quality type pictures. I was wondering if anyone has bought these and still keep them in their bag? What about the macro lens?

Item in question: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/52mm-0-45x-Wide-Angle-Lens-NIKON-D5100-D60-D70-D80-/220800115591?pt=UK_Lenses_Filters_Lenses&hash=item3368b66387#ht_3523wt_1396

Is there an alternative which can be bought without breaking the bank? I've got an entry level nikon, perhaps planning to get a 5100D (or similar) in the near future but from the looks of it thats as far as my professionalism career will go :)

Currently equipment - Nikon D60, 15-55mm, 55-200mm and a 35mm prime.

Im also learning some photoshop and anything I can do with photoshop I will go with that route instead (apologies for the traditional hardcore photographers out there). Any tips/tricks to share along the way will be great! :D

I had one with my last camera, I found they are pretty useless TBH.

With photoshop as above, you can get the same effect as the wide adaptors with a fish eye kind of effect...

The only other suggestion, i have seen people reccomend the samyang fisheye lens

Not the best option but fairly cheap if you look around.

I'll agree these are terrible! defiantly not worth 45 quid!

These adapters are nothing to do with Photoshop. They reduce the prime lens focal length giving a wider angle of view.

I.e Put this on a standard lens and you get a wide angle lens.

Used at modest apertures F8, F11 etc they give reasonable sharpness but not as good as a prime lens or a good zoom.

Save your pennies and buy a lens not an adapter.
