Window closure?

Featured Replies

Today I parked my car in the hosiptal car park, and forgot to shut the window  two hours later I came back and lucky enough the car was still there, now this is not the first time I've done this it looks like the memory is going.

I've done a search on here but can only find window closure on the Octi, but can this be done on the fabia? I mean if I forget to close them will the car shut them either when I lock it via the key fob or other "x" amount of time? Ok I know this will make the car smarter than me but it will be worth it.

Help!!

Mike

Sorry to tag onto this but i would love to hear the details of octavia closure if it is possible

I'm pretty sure that when I was test driving the furby or ibiza fr one of the dealers said the windows auto close when you put the key in the door and turn it for x amount of seconds. I just can't remember which car it was I've never tried it with mine. But it is probably something that can be programmed via vagcom. Someone will be able to clear this up.

Dunno about the fabia. If you open the windows in the Octy and close the door and insert the key to lock but hold the key in position the windows roll up. Works with the windows closed aswell.

The key in the lock trick does work on the Fabia :)

But it would be great to do it via the keyfob whilst locking...

The Fabia vRS also does this. Put the key in the door lock and turn it one way to open the windows and the other way to shut them. Personally I can't see the point of this, because you use the key fob to lock/unlock the car.

If you want to use the remote fob, you have to look for something like the Alien window controller. Use the search button to find the relevant info.

My mates Audi A3 closes the windows if you keep your finger on lock for a couple of seconds and his key fob is exactly the same as mine. I think it just needs to be programmed. Perhaps the dealer could do it.

I think the idea here is wanting the windows to go up when you've got out the car, locked it remotely not checking what windows are down and walking off?

In that situation I'm not sure there is a solution. I have to admit that when I come to a stop I flick both switches for the windows to "up" when sometimes the windows are already up... :o Force of habit I suppose.

How about a big "check your windows" label stuck on to the inside driver's door handle? :P :D

It is designed to operate off the key so that you program in the windows winding ranges when you reconnect the battery. (or something like that).

I've used it a few times when realised the passenger window is open when I've got out.

You can reprogram the windows for one touch with the window switch in the car if the battery has been disconnected.

You cant program the windows to work of the remote like VW and Audi cars, its not just a software difference.

And as far as I know the Alientech controller works on the Ocatvia but not the Fabia as the conveinance systems are quite different.

Don't you mean "can't" in the first 2 sentences?

I'm also under the impression that the alientech doesn't work on the Fabia. Works great on my Octy though!

Sorry, now edited.

I'll try and I'll look at some of the above.

Jason, your right it would be better to remember in the first place, but I dont often have the windows down, being in London I'd just get smoked out by buses all the time  maybe a tatoo on my hand would be best :D

Other option is to get an alarm fitted with a decent internal sensor so that it would go off if the window is left down ;)

Chris

Or get a clifford alarm with the window closure option added, so that as soon as you press lock on the fob, up go the windows. But then that's money you probably don't want/need to spend.

Indeed the tatoo would be cheaper! :D I'll just have to remember to make sure they are shut, I mean it's not like I do it everytime, just would like a fail safe incase I forget!

I agree it would be really cool if you could put them up with the fob like Audis.

Must admit I am a little disapointed that it doesnt work on the Fabia :(

I am a sucker for gadgets :D

I just received the alientech window controller, and I will try to get it work on my Fabia. Yes, I did it agains all the comments that it will not work on Fabia. :D

If I succeed in getting it work, I will post the wirings here.

Wish me luck guys!

Good luck! Do you have electric rear windows? Here in the UK only the early Elegance's had this and all the cars from 2002 onwards have manual rear windows.....

Chris

My Vauxhall Vectra will close its windows (and open them as well, if you want) from the key fob. In addition, if it rains whilst the windows are left open and the car is locked, it will automatically close them to stop the car getting wet inside.

thats pretty cool, take it you need rain sensing wipers for this though

eddy, how does the alientech work?? do you press and hold, double press or something differnet?? wondering as i want to get one and don't know if it will interfer with the operation of my alarm

Why open the windows if you have aircon?

I'm happy in my quiet cabin without noise and dust from the outside.
