Carbon Parts: Feeler Thread

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Im pretty new to the forum and i have only owned my MK2 vRS Fabia for little over 3 weeks now. Loving the car so far by the way :)

I have plenty on my 'mods' list and looking at my little Fabia, there are a few parts i fancy in Carbon.

I have a good friend who makes Carbon Fibre parts, and looking at my Fabia i was looking at possibly the mirrors, rear valance, and maybe the front splitter if i purchase one that comes on a Monte Carlo and have that wrapped.

Now the work he does is fantastic, and he doesnt wrap your original parts, he will create a mold from an original part and then make a full mould of Carbon Fibre, therefore its not wrapped - its genuine Carbon!!

Im not out to make any money on this, and its just a feeler thread if anybody is interested, but it would cost my friend alot of time and money to invest in something like this, so for me to just ask for 1 or 2 parts doing for my Fabia is going to cost him wayyy too much, and therefore 5 or more people would have to be interested in certain parts they would like for their Fabia.

Now i bought my vRS only 3 weeks ago as mentioned, and before this i had a TT-RS. My friend also owns a TT and has wrapped certain parts for others TT owners over in the TT Owners Club - which have gone down like a storm and he has had alot of praise and brilliant feedback. Ive also seen his work in the flesh and its fantastic!!!!

Im not asking anybody to sign upto anything as id imagine id have to get the forums / Admins backing, but i just want feedback on is anybody is interested, and if so what parts would you like in Carbon on your Fabia?

As mentioned, nothing in it for me, but if i want some Carbon parts, i need others to be interested also.

Let me know what you think and if you have any questions id be happy to post back the answers.

In the meantime, to show you some of his work, here are some pictures for you.............

  • I would reckon vent surrounds, sterring wheel trim pieces, radio surround, door pulls and the trim line along the doors would be nice. Maybe the heater switches aswell as there a bit naff

  • Rear defuser ? The original is a sod to clean due to the rough finish !

  • I would be intrested in a radio trim (if the amusden has the same trim as the rest?) And the vent surrounds. Bit im a bit low on funds at the moment due to saving for a holiday so thats why i heasist

so will the parts be 100% carbon fibre or just have a carbon skinning over tbe top of the oem?

because the ned in me will say s2000 bonnet..... wing mirrors would probably be the best option. along with interior goodies like the door cards.

Thanks for the reply ap :)

The parts will be 100% Carbon Fibre

They are formed from a mould that is taken off the original part. They are prepreg Carbon Fibre that is put into an Autoclave under heat and compression that gives incredible strength, yet extremely lightweight. Also they look the bogs - dollox !

Thanks

Paul

What about interior parts? Wouldnt mind some carbon dash trim

+1 as long as it doesn't come with that web address all over them I'd be interested. Nothing on the outside though only interior trip pieces like round vents etc

Yeh it wont come with the advertisement on.

My buddy says he would like 5+ people who want a particular part, then he will look into costs and feedback ASAP

Good shout Stu, need more people to be interested so as more people post with what they would like in Carbon i will update my mate until he is happy there is enough interest

Paul

I would be interested in some vents and stereo surround in carbon not too much work and fairly small parts.

Would love an engine cover and s2000 bonnet but price dependent as a bonnet is a big job

Also the engine cover fits ibiza polo and fabia so big sales to be had with that one

+1 to the engine cover and interior bits mentioned.

What about the fuse box cover? just under the steering coloumn

Id be willing to bet these may work out cheaper after postage than those bt parts there pretty pricey

How 'bout front and back door sills? Would be vey nice on a white fabia..

I looked before. They don't do any interior carbon bits. Also with an engine cover does it come off OK? I haven't tried with mine yet but does it just pull off or does it need to flex a bit to come off?

Also with an engine cover does it come off OK?

Hefty jank...held on by lugs and rubber grommets

I would be interested in most interior things, stereo trim, vents and whatever else.

Rear defuser ? The original is a sod to clean due to the rough finish !

Me too. In fact I'm interested in any ideas.

Mirrors, rear spoiler ?

Those mirrors do look awesome

Isn't it plastic welded on though ?

there is a place in nottingham called mint car enhancements which i mite be going a few weeks time

haveing head lights done and sume carbon done pete

when i had the rear off to remove the weights the diffuser looked like it was held by a few pins. but that could of been flashing from the moulding so....

I'm after a front splitter

Interior parts would be nice. Dependant on price though as not paying silly money when I could just paint them gloss black :D
