my local dealer is selling a 52 plate vrs registered in sep 2002 but I notice the wheels are 16" anyone able to say why??

Check to see if its got climatronic or just manual aircon , also have a look if it has a rear wiper. Both these are options in Ireland , where most of the RHD imports come from. PS it is only the UK where the vRS is standard on 17s , every other country it is a cost option to upgrade the wheels from 16" (and some did come into the country in UK spec on 16s , but i thought they were all late X/early Y reg cars)

It does sound like a non-UK spec model if its that new.

Most of the dealers in Scotland have or have had 17's as an optional extra. This was the case when I got mine September 01.

Perhaps this car was registered in Scotland.

Ours is a 51 reg, september of that year I think. It has 16's.

Mine's a 51 reg, september first registered. It has 17's. :confused:

Mines on 17" -- maybe the dealer has done as swap with a vRS estate -- possibly to clinch th deal...

That was uncalled for on a nice Sunday morning!

Mine is a Sept 01 car which had 16's when it was new but the dealer swapped them for 17's to clinch the deal after I asked everyone here the same question . I rang Skoda in the end to confirm it was not an import they geve me an answer straight away , which helped, since then I have seen lots of 51 and 02 Rs's on 16's in the Milton Keynes area which is where mine came from so maybe they're more common than we realise

If you like the car and everything else is right try pushing the dealer to swap them.If they are so confident it doesnt add or detract from the resale they shouldn't want to risk loosing a sale, however I wouldn't take one on with 16's there are to many on the right wheels.
