Mass Effect 3

Featured Replies

Mate at work keeps banging on about this game. He's one of these non-swimming bed-wetters who play all their games on a PC instead of utilising the far superior games consoles that have recently been invented.

I've never really heard of the ME franchise but now considering a purchase for the PS3. Reviews are resoundingly good. Is it a game that you can drop into on the 3rd installment? Or do I have to search out the other two first?

I take it the game is like Modern Warfare in Space? If its owt to do with strategy and moving armies about then I really cannot....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

From what I gather, it's more shooter now. ME1 and 2 were very RPG

Its a difficult one to call.. the 3rd is pretty accessible for those new to the series, but it was made as a trilogy and youll get the most out of it by having played the first two.

(although i believe the PS3 version has a comic-thing included that goes thru the events of the first two)

As Babs says, it strikes a good balance between 3rd person shooter and RPG. and its up to you with pursuing the side-missions or sticking to the main storyline.

Personally.. the Mass Effect series has been some of the most gripping gaming ive ever done... currently 11-12 hours into ME3 and have had to drag myself away for the eve.

Shush Dave... i was letting that comment slip ;)

We all know that the PC is big player ;)

Its a tactical shooter with some tiny RPG elements. Combat is excellent fun. 20 odd hours into the game and its excellent.

People play on PC's are they are around 10x the power of consoles, sadly this one is just a console port so doesnt really use the power. :giggle:

Of course, I was just testing to see if you moderators were doing your jobs in the correct and appropriate fashion, thus justifying the massive bonuses that you get paid on a monthly basis. God forbid that deliberately inflammatory comments would go unchecked on such a mighty forum as The Briskynator. Well done!

Like you suggest, Col, I may have to go back to the beginning with this game. By the time I've got half way through the other two, got bored due to my inept gaming skillz and given up, the price of number 3 may have come down.

I have now got Mass Effect 1 Ultimate edition installed on my creaky old Evesham PC. Runs pretty good for a 266mhz dual core with x1600 graphics.

I don't like having to stop mid battle to fugg about with equipping stuff and upgrading ammo and pointing at this crate and aiming it at that alien and getting your mate to hoy it aboot. Is there a quicker way? Some sort of hot key process mayhaps?

It's good but it's not right!

It's an RPG with shooter elements! The balance is tipped more in favour of shooter in ME3.

ME2 toned all that down for the console kiddies, in some ways it made it more fun and more "shootery", removed a lot of the faff(the RPG stuff). ME3 stream lines it even more.
