Midlife crisis?

Featured Replies

For some unknow reason I have a urge to buy a porsche!! I cant afford one and dont really know why I want one but I do, I've spent most of yesterday and this morning looking at them

SWSBO thinks I'm having a very early mid-life crisis.............though she's please that it's a porsche and not a younger woman :D

Anybody else have this problem?

I know loads of guys that reach 40 and want to ride in a younger woman.....no porsches as yet!

Every day I wake up and say " I want a Lotus elise"

Every day I get clonked by m'lady :slap:

I understand what you are thinking ;)

Have been looking at them for a few weeks now. Which is scary, as if this is a mid-life crisis, I'll be dead by the time I'm 50!

Not just thee sir...but I have no desire for the Porsche...well not one I can afford in this life.

I reckon we need a good old fashioned gents day out...

Idea already touted to Lady Wife...."where the children going to go?"..."in your MPV"....SLAP..."Take it I can't have one then?". :(

Now looking at EVOs....."plenty of space for the kids"........"but boot isn't a big as Octy so no space for pram if we have another baby".

No SLAP...that's a good sign...right? ;)

Already got  for next Octy RS....if it ever turn ups. :D

May be I could use the stratigy that Chris Harris of Autocar used....."wife got her bun in the oven, I got my 911S".

I'm certainly going through the crisis but don't have the urge to have a porchse.

I want to free myself from the commitment of a house.

I see you have your eye on the Vatican still .Take ages to hoover round:D

Off topic .Sos.

I used to work with a guy who refused to have kids with his wife until he had a 911. Guess what Santa bought him for Xmas?

I have been having a mid-life crisis for the past 5 years. :) It culminated last December when I bought the Octy :D:D:D

I feel better known that I'm not alone!! :D Maybe I should try and get the urge out of me by having a test drive. Though that never worked with the Scooby issue

Funny enough when I said about SWSBO not only said the mid-life crisis bit but also said, so you dont want to get a place together? So atleast I know where I stand I guess lol

I prefer to think of it in reverse. Until I'm 40, I won't be able to afford to buy, run or insure a Porsche. I'm going through an "early life crisis"

I looked at buying a Porsche just 3 months ago, although I never mentioned anything here, I was very tempted to get myself a nice 944 Turbo. Didnt bother in the end, because I felt the running costs would crush what little is left of my paypacket as it is.

I'm 25 BTW, so its a bit early for me :D

Hi

Working in the City before the crash when they were 10-penny, it hasn't exactly been the car to be seen in since IMO, though I do still see an odd one now and then. From a female POV, they kind of remind me of the "slightly greying, open-necked shirt and cravat" types, so hopefully you're not one of those... IOW I follow the sentiment, but why a Porsche?

Mo

im way too young for a midlife crises but my parents aint.... now they are all alone i thikn my old man would love a sports car.... they keep test driving them ...but my mums always the sensible police man.... its too low, its too fast, its to expensive, the ride too stiff.... OF COURSE IT IS MUM ITS A SPORTS CAR!!!

Generally speaking, as second-hand purchases they're common enough to be good value for money, and reliable enough to not be stupidly expensive to run (compared with, for example, a similarly-aged TVR).

True, they carry a certain image, but I'm not wholly convinced that making this point on a Skoda forum will carry much weight. ;)

Your not alone, I will own one at somepoint just dont know when... There so bloody impractical though!

Having a mid life crisis is not such a bad thing. Porsches can be invesments. Very low residuals, and highly desirable. Total cost over 3 years maybe similar to a much lesser car......

I say go for it ;)

Nope not greying in the least bit though Kim loves to joke that I am  to be honest I dont know why a porsche I've always hated them in the past, normally driven by well to**ers but lately there is something appealing about them. A friend at work suggest I might be turning well a bit limp wristed  I dont think it's just the porsche though I was taken for a spin in a Audi TT soft top and I liked that alot :o

Maybe I've just been sniffing my own diesel smoke too much

indeed your right they are very reliable compaired to others. and after all they do hold there price well! :D

swmbo was going to get an Elise but got the Octy instead as it was more practical for her school books.

I just want to get away from the rat race and live in the middle of nowhere in a self built log cabin and drive a nice sporty car.

I hate having a mortgage, jobs, kids and wife (in that order).

Just how young is your wife?! :D

Think Rob was referring to the fact she had schoolbooks ;)

Chris

If she needs an Octy for school books, how many books does she carry

The whole school
