Second (long life) variable service cost at 34k miles

Featured Replies

Just booking mine in for its second long life service at 34k.

It’s exactly two years, so brake fluid change and pollen filter needed.

Alex Lawrie, Liverpool have quoted £295 all in.

Mitchells, Chester £326.

Lightcliffe Warrington £322.

All seem a little high.

I know others have paid less but maybe that didn’t include £45 brake fluid change or a £25 pollen filter.

Mine is a 2010 model apparently from 2011 onwards brake fluid change is at 3, 5 and 7 years.

Yes,noticed mine is set up for first brake fluid change at 3 years, always thought it had to be a max' of two years.

Also my car is set up for the variable service like yours but the dealer stamp in the service book says service the car at 12 months.

I will wait until November when the car is 12 months old and make a decision then.

Whats the aprox' price for an oil change service?.

Purchased my car from Mitchells but Lawries are the nearest dealer to me.

If its variable service check the maxidot setup, you will find service interval on the menu and it will tell you how long till the next service.

I think the service books are the same for fixed and variable so bound to lead to confusion!

Your dealer can tell you from the Skoda comp system what service interval you are on.

Brake fluid change is not needed until 3rd year on VAG cars from 2008 - check your handbook!

Mine says two year on pages 6 & 7 of the service book.

Dealer tells me its three years from 2011 models onwards.

What year is yours?

2011, but last my Golf (2008MY) and 'er indoors Fabia (57 plate) both had first BF change @ 3 years as per recommended in hand book!

I think it’s one of those endearing VAG anomalies where the changes are introduced first on the 'premium' brands and Skoda and Seat get it later.

You may well have a point there!

My yeti due its First variable service in a few months so duly rang supplying dealer and they wanted £265(was also told 3yr for brake fluid).

Buy chance the same day had a flyer from the same dealer offering the 2 year service pack for £299 inc either free MOTs or £50 accessories voucher.

So I'm now paid up and the first big inspection service is covered and I'll be back to time and distance from now on and have the minor service next year.

The £50 vouchers will go on a set of seat covers(plus a bit).

Happy days!!

Mines booked in next week for it's first variable servie at 18,700miles.

I was quoted £150.98, all inclusive.Hortons current discounted price.

The helpful young lady did mention that it wasn't quite ready for a brake fluid change at 2 years......

I have just moved my 2nd service which was booked in for monday to the following monday. This will be the 30,000 kms service (19,000 miles approx.) The car will have done around 20,000 by the time it is serviced.

Cost? £299 for this service and the next one, including a brake fluid change.

I would recommend if they are charging almost that for one service, then the fixed servicing deal is extremely good value. I am also expecting £50 of vouchers to use at a Skoda dealership which makes it a no-brainer.

Mike
