UPD P2 - 4 1/2 years And Now DPF!

Featured Replies

Cars 4 1/2 years old so no Skoda assist. I am in AA though.

Why? Skoda Assist is much cheaper!

Already had family cover with AA for the wifes car. (+ others)

I believe I was one of the first with a CR.

There are two things that get caught by the DPF. One is carbon (and carbon compounds) that will burn off in a regen. The other is ash. This will not burn off, and eventually clog the filter so that it will have to be rplaced.

Not at 30k though!

Can't someone remove them and 'empty it' like a vacuum cleaner? Or is that too simplistic?

Oh, and is that sensor easy to swap?

Just ordered the sensor (which was supersceded by the one I have), so fingers crossed!

Is it easy to swap?

hi had similar on my 09 vrs last aug just as i got on at start of m1 dash lights started to come on. got to london gateway & dpf & all other associated lights were on. luckily only 2 1/2 years old so skoda assist came & changed out faulty sensor ( the same one as in pics in this thread) & then did a forced regen in the car park also some updates ( top man ) because he could. luckily i do a 35 mile motorway journey to work 70 mile round trip so dpf get plenty of heat. had no issues since.

My Mates had his DPF removed ;) , What an Improvement. It's a different car.

Doesn't that cause MOT problems (or do you just re-fit it?)

Sensor is dead easy to swap, BUT it must be put through an adaption run after installation so the ECU knows how full the DPF really is based on the sensor readings. Failure to complete adaption could result in excessive regens and increased fuel consumption or no regen when one is required clogging the DPF.

Adaption is simply a case of enterng a code into Coding-II on VCDS, waiting a short period and starting the engine before going for a run. Did this on my old Superb MK2 before I sold it, and had no issues.

Had this prob with my pd and it was the sensor, try not drive too much till u get it replaced,

Also make sure u order the newer revised sensor from dealer, I got mine adapted in vag person.

Had no problems since touch wood, mines was replaced about 3k ago.

That's a myth. There is still nothing at all in the MOT about diesel cats or DPFs.

UPDATE:

Rang Skoda Assistance

Waited until next day to get proper VAG Assist.

Confirmed it was a dodgy sensor

Replaced sensor

DPF was at 13mg (lower than regen level)

Did a forced regen anyway

Confirmed all car was sweet again and dpf clear

Carry on!

So dpf was fine all along and as my car was out of warranty I had to pay for sensor which is £55 from dealer and from the Skoda Assist van £49?! Cheeky buggers dealers!

Good stuff but thought you had AA?

AA could only take me to dealer due to crap diags so signed back up to SA weds! £89 for year.

Does skoda assist cover the car with any driver or only 1 driver.

Covers the car. So if you bought it for 2 years and sold it after 1 the person you sold it to gets the cover.

No problems whatsoever...
