Ride height

Featured Replies

Hi all i trying to decide what product to buy for lowering my octy vrs, im not after coilovers just springs.

it sounds like the H&R springs are the best after market product after reading afew postings. seems they only have a lowering height of 20mm max, wouldn't this still be too high???? i dont intend to increase the wheel size keep them at 17"s or intend to carry any fat birds in the back :giggle: , has anyone advice or a picture of a vrs lowered by 20mm to help me out??

cheers

I think 20mm would be ample

Just make sure you get vRS ones as the vRS is already lower than a standard Octavia. If you buy 20mm lowering springs meant for a standard Octavia you'll only end up where you are now.

Mine with 20mm h&r

My brother used weitec and kw on various vrs's

Seemed fine, he went to 18s on both and didnt have any trouble mate, i'll have a hunt for pics

Depends on what you are going for. I'm assuming as you're going for springs instead of coilovers or matched springs & dampers you're doing it for looks rather than handling in which case 20mm isn't much, you want about 30-40mm drop for it to be right on its a$$.

I had 20mm drop on my coilovers which was perfect for handling etc but as you can see from the pic it doesn't look much different to standard:

For me mate a 20mm drop is spot on as the rear is not a bad hight as is but the large gap between tyre and arch on the front is too much.

THe thing with springs is it will stiffen slightly where coilies will make it very stiff and if you lower it like some have t=you get a very poor ride and handling. Very choppy.  I have had weitec coilovers on since 2008 and you get used to it but it is harch, Ive also had her at lots of hights and tho low looks stunning it was really poor handling wise and ride wise. going up to around 20-30mm drop ish is a really nice compromise.

Bowders1 has posted too that he raised his 10mm iirc and he instantly noticed a better ride.  He does have some top notch KWv2 on his tho lol and his was lowwwwwwwwwwwww lol

fact he is the man to talk to mate, he has had h&r stuff on his. he has had 4+ setups on his so far lol.  only next step for him is the KWv3's lol

thanks chaps some wise words to consider. steve954 a lovely looking car mate better with the blacks wheels on, but mine is for more looks so i think it'll have to be 30mm+ drop. sorry to be a newbie to all this but would i have to replace anything else if I were to drop it 30 - 35mm, i take it the standard shocks would cope?? thanks again
