Any advice on accident damage?

Boston I think.

Would try n get it moved to Sheffield ncrc instead of boston as there manager refers to them a his little chicken pluckers n they r rough. Sheffield has some really gud staff and I could put the word out for you if you want. And yes they do also have some **** staff to which I would tell them to keep it away from.

Nooo get it away from the insurers repairer. It's all done as cheaply and quickly as possible by them. Get some recommendations and put into a good body shop

My insurers chosen repairer caused more damage than the accident. Took 4 months so get it sorted by a proper body shop. A touch up to the drivers door turned into the whole side of the car getting sprayed plus the rear bumper, all the window rubbers replaced and two alloys refurbished.

This. Stuff the loan car. Get it repaired properly.

Do not touch National Crash Repair Center. Get the work down at a proper garage of your choice.

National repairers, some have horrid reputation but some must be good I guess, still its there now anyway.

I would suggest you ring the manager, speak to no one less, say you have heard some bad things about some of the repairs they have done, if he asks you to be sopecific just say its general slagging on the net. Ssay you arranging for it to be independantly checked once they have finished it. Be very polite & just say you are doing it for peace of mind & dont want them to take offence. If you have a good reputation with another bodyshop or your Skoda dealer ask if they will give it the once over when it comes back. Hopefully you wont have any issues

Any time estimate yet ??

Some make a furtune on the rental cars & arent incentivised to rush

I've seen the work carried out by Nationwide repairers and its not great, although in a scottish branch.

I'm sure they have some good panel beaters and repairers, but having seen the work of one branch and heard they've views. I wouldn't be happy for them to repair one of my cars.

the words one manager said were "It impossible to get a factory finish repainting a panel"

Like I said in my post there ****e workers n gud workers unfortunately there seams to be more ****e workers, but that's everywhere. I use to work for them for 11 years but got ****ed off with all the top end cars that was just for me and the other bloke. There is more ****e workers then gud, But if it did go to Sheffield one I could have a word with the lads for you. It's no skin off my nose wot you do just trying to help people out as I know what goes off in bodyshops. And if you say it going to be checked by a paint tech they should do it right first time.

Good luck getting it repaired ok mate sorry to hear it has been damaged.

The vinyl will have to come off and be replaced which is a ball ache for you, that particular panel is the hardest bit to apply.

Thanks for the advice all!

I'm happy to let it stay with Nationwide, the guy I have been speaking with there seems ok. Seems the car is easily repaired.

No idea on time-scale as when I spoke to him on Friday he was having trouble finding a firm that would do the brushed aluminium vinyl and wouldn't start work until a total job cost could be ok'd by the insurers.

I found the company that did the wrap originally and put them in touch with each other, will have a chase up on Monday.

Harry_Vrs, yeah found a Facebook album by the guys who did the wrap, can see the time involved! Skoda Octavia VRS Brushed Aliminium Wrap with Carbon bonnet | Facebook

Don't forget to claim for the cost of having the wrap re applied.

It's all under the insurance so no worries.

Glad I told the insurance about the wrap! :whew:

They won't cover any extras even if decleared. You need to instruct your legal cover to claim the cost back after getting a quote. I did the same with my VentureShield. Check your policy!

I had a 70mph + on the A27 last June coming back from the Festival of Speed - closed the road for five hours. The car actually didn't look too bad on the surface but thankfully the inspector was a good guy and offered me both options - repair or write off. I got £15K and was chuffed with that.

You are entitled to insist it is taken to a Skoda Approved Repairer.

Comment from him was "good crates to have a bang in - nice and strong and deform well. Would pick one of these over a beemer to have a smack in anyday"

Two months later and I'm nearly happy with my car.

Nationwide at Boston have been very good keeping me informed of the work carried out and have given me documented photographic evidence of the work carried out.

The car was returned with the sill covers missing and the vinyl wrap peeling in several places. Also the radio and sat nav menu's do not show in the maxi dot menu and the directions do not appear.

I took the car myself to the wrappers on Saturday and they have re-wrapped the rear bumper and boot. They also redid the spoiler which was peeling anyway before the accident, they did a great job this time!

Just waiting for some sill covers from super skoda as Nationwide can only get standard Octavia ones not the vRS ones, they are a VAG approved repairer and cant get them, same as some Skoda dealers I have tried. Factory option only it would appear.

As they can't order the parts out of this network I've bought them and billed them. Just waiting for payment.

The sat nav is not showing directions on the maxi dot, presumably as a result of long term battery disconnection?

I got nationwide to plug in their vag-com type thing, I could see that option 37 was enabled for sat nav but no options to change anything, I guess I need someone with VCDS or I'll try the dealer on my next service.

Total bill just shy of £5k including the wrap, all on the other guys insurance! Plus whatever the hire car cost!

I hope he gets a nice premium come renewal  but I guess mine will go up to! :wonder:

Not for me, all covered and paid for :whew:

Glad I went with More than and not someone like Quinn Direct!
