Sell standard or vrs replica

Featured Replies

So i've rang the insurance company up today to get my insurance swapped over from my 1.9 sdi to the 1.2 sport. they want £137.18 to do this, and my renewals due in 6 weeks time, unsure if i should pay it or not, Anyway!

The time has come to sell the sdi, i intended to "Modify" it somewhat but never got round to doing much of it, but bought most the parts!

Details of the car.

Its a 2000 Skoda Fabia 1.9 SDI classic, with 142,000 on the clock.

colours, black magic. a quick search on eBay and selecting "lowest price first" has shown me the cheapest fabia sdi listed on ebay is currently £1,300, this may be more than i want for mine but would like to get as much as i can for it, its got 3 month tax & test aswell.

But, ive got...

black magic vrs front bumper

black magic vrs rear bumper

Full vrs exhaust, backbox etc..

vrs alloys with 4 brand new, goodyear f1 tyres

silverline lux leather steering wheel, handbrake & gearknob.

20mm lower springs

driver & passanger doors, compleate with electric windows, switches, central locking & a full wiring loom for a vrs!

symphany cd player OR a ripspeed flip out touch screen dvd player one

wind deflectors

I'd imagine with all the bits on it would look like a vrs or at least a nice little car, i just dont know what it would be worth with all the bits on.... or if i should just sell it standard and sell the bits seperate, if i can be botherd... probly sit in the garage for the next 15 year...

If you came to sell it I would buy the wheels wind deflectors and some of the interior bits if you gave me a good price :)

Sell the bits and put it standard, who on earth in their right mind is going to want to buy something that pretends to be something it isn't, well especially on a standard car (rules may be a bit different with sport/prestige categories just common sense applies).

Never ever works when selling a standard / basic vehicle...the automatic assumption is that its been thrashed I think.

That said plenty Im sure would be interested in honest SDI's so shouldn't be hard to sell. Mileage seem high but I guess is average.

Listed price of what someone expects to receive on ebay means nothing, its what people are actually prepared to pay/bid that counts.

Our immaculately serviced 2002 1.4 MPI was sold privately at around 65k miles I think, for £900. Had a couple of minor cosmetic issues but nothing that bad. Dealer would have given us P/X for £700.

Yours being 2 years older I'd be suprised if it was more than that just being realistic.

Private good of a car 3 years newer (2003/52) is £1500 according to Parkers.

By selecting 'Completed Listings' on the options, you can see EXACTLY what they have sold for. :)

That's really nothing on an SDI.

One sold on autotrader recently with 450k on the clock. :o

Now that's what I call mileage.

I would take the VRS bumpers off you too

Im not trying to sell any parts on here or my car, just so people know, simply after advice.

I also get a similar impression when i see a "done up car" just looking at them and thinking, well thats been thrashed to bits, and not wanting to touch it!

As for doing an advanced search on eBay, i can see one that has more milage on and in worse condition with no tax or test, sold for £720, the next cheapest one being a final sale price of just over £1000.

I guess id be happy with £850 for the car in its standard state just with the interior upgrades and the original skoda CD player insted of cassett. Ive also got the full history of the car, had both the belts done and been serviced well by the previous owner and all the time ive owned it.

some of the reasons i bought the car was the fact they do excellent mpg, as well as having very reliable engines and very cheap to insure only being group 3 (on the new 1 - 50 groups) my friend at skoda told me before i bought it they often see octavias and fabias still on the original engine covering between 300,000 and 400,000 miles!

As for selling any parts, im not freedom so cant advise them for sale, but if the car sells and im left with a good £500 worth of parts, with people happy to collect them from the newcastle area, i will be selling them on here!

pay your £12 join freedom and advertise the car as standard and sell all the parts on here

If people are selling VRS's stripped back to standard because theres more money in it then for sure there's more money in doing it that way with your SDi

Think of it this way

you can sell the whole standard car for £850

you can sell the VRS parts for £500

if you put those £500 worth of parts into your SDi it sure as hell ain't gunna sell for £1350

plus you'd be left with a load of SDi parts that'll prove harder to shift than the VRS ones
