  • No, I found a very cheap 1.2 petrol with high milage at an independant dealer. Doesn't even have electric windows. Perfect! When I mentioned the car's future it was suggested by the dealer that a

Same you're not looking for a mk2 TT-RS that would be even more epic

The original plan was down those lines with a 2.5TFSI. I'm tempted, but it's a heavier engine and a 1.8 will give me the same power. It'll just need more tweaking. And they are really expensive if and when they come up for sale.

If you havent tried already, www.copart.co.uk sells damaged vehicles, you may have already been looking on there though :L

Dan

Yes, I keep an eye on Copart.

They had an RS3 a few weeks back.. but it went for about 20k!

Yes, basic but light. ;)

Thought about an older shape S3? May be cheaper and same drive/engine etc

Glad you have "settled" on your spec's and keeping the SE.

Look forward to the updates.

Richard,

Did you have a bid on the 225 tt on eBay?

Project is starting to take shape, I'm excited for you!

Can't wait to see how this goes but as you've said don't rush it and there's plenty of time to get it right

Should be good to see next year Furby vs octy track ?ar ;-)

Richard can't help putting my tuppence worth in the mix, what about going for a twin engined setup one in the front the other in the boot probably easier to source two fwd units and shove the front subframe on the back of the car 50/50 weight distribution 4wd and 450 + bhp along with the privacy glass, who's to know???

It was a possibility, but I want to use the car for pretty much all types of events.

It would have been great for quarter mile sprints with a twin engine set up.

I am trying to go for sensible power around 400bhp to keep it drivable and make it as light as possible so it's good track tool too.

Running two engines and drivetrains would have made it quite a heavy old beast and possibly a bit too hardcore for a track day. (IMO)

Always welcome the input though. Waiting to see the V-Storm when it's done. :)

It's always going to be a bit of a compromise, as it's going in a hatchback shell with traditional engine layout.

But I guess that's part of doing a Skoda Fabia to surprise people rather than something more focused like yours.

Not to mention you'll be using twice as much fuel! :giggle:

Have you seen the fabia running EVO 4x4 gear and engine ?? Now thats mental lol

Over on the Noble forums, folks aren't happy: M600 vs Fabia

You an always cruise on one engine to do your bit for the environment and keep the tree huggers at bay.

Andy Holland from Kent Scoobies has done a similar conversion using a Proton Satria (nee colt)and the guts out of an evo 3, other than welding in part of the rear floor plan a surprisingly simple conversion only running about 260bhp at the moment but plans to turn the wick up to about 400bhp. It looks bog standard to boot. At the Lydden bhp show on monday, he had led a few petrolheads on with so called pub talk about the car. who were almost ridiculing him in disbelief until he popped the bonnet!!

I saw that Fabia on forges fb page, Does look cool. seems everyone's doing crazy swaps at the mo, there's an N reg Nissan micra round my way powered by a 400bhp scooby engine :)

Been a bit quiet lately as I've been getting the GT-R ready for sale (it went this morning) and not much has been happening.

Have now found another parts vehicle though which I've bought, 225bhp BAM engined 2004 TT Roadster quattro.

At least spreading the job out also spreads the costs out... :D

Complete or written off?
