Off the top of my head I cant tell you what the offset is, but it is not normal because they stand out much more than the standard wheels as you can possibly see from the photo's.

Looking at the link in your first post they are 19 inch 8.5J with an offset of 42

looking good,i wouldnt worry about buying reps, you will find that the people that can buckle a rep are the people that can buckle any wheel

If that's right then you'll have additional 22mm poke, that's a lot.

Better than spacers

The wheel width combined with that offset, on standard suspension, fully loaded with passengers, that's going to happen - simple as that really.

19x8 and that offset, you might have got away with it.

Sorry Pastie but the "don't worry about buying reps" is cobblers mate

Most of the reps are nowhere near as strong as a factory / named aftermarket wheel. I've seen reps bent and cracked by normal everyday driving which simply wouldn't have bothered the better built (more expensive) wheels.

I personally inspected a brand new RS4 rep one day which had an eccentricity of +/- 9mm 9mm FFS!! and that was out of the box from the dealer on eBay!. That was just plain faulty manufacture / poor QC. The other three wheels were not anywhere near as bad; one was +/-4mm.but they were well in excess of what would be tolerated from a reputable manufacturer.

In addition the finish on the inside radius was very rough and the paint was think and patchy, especially on the rear. They were a £350 set of wheels and looked it

You get what you pay for - I take the point about quality wheels suffering issues - I had a Speedline on a Punto that was porous to the point I was sticking air in the tyre once a fortnight, but generally the stuff on eBay is simply not up to standard and has more Kit-Kat wrappers in it than OEM. You cannot tell me that a £400 set of wheels is going to measure up to a nice pair of Ronals or Compomotives

Rear will probably ok

Fronts will be sticking out I'd of thought

Can you post a head on shot for reference for others?

OK  what next? with 4 in the car the other day going round a corner the most loaded rear tyre caught the wheel arch liner :bandit: so what next???

Has anyone had experience of wheel arch rolling & or pulling the arches out???/

It's that or skim some metal off the wheel & or off the hubs.

Hopefully, I'm going to take it into Hull to AutoTechnic soon to see what can be done

what size are the tyres?

Better than spacers

Rubbing wheels on a new car is not on, if u got the proper offset they should not rub at all,in a years time u will have rusty arches from the tires burning off the paint.

most likely its rubbing on the arch liner (plastic) rather than the bodywork, but either way its not good.

better than spacers? er, no - if you had spacers you could pull them off and stop your rubbing :-p

In terms of what to do to fix the problem - you may be lucky - on my previous car (Mk5 gti) there was a very prominent screw in the arch liner that was the first thing to catch with very low cars with spacers/wrong width/offset wheels. i can't remember the details but a bunch of guys removed the screw without any problems and this was a big help.

Other thing to consider - if you're running 235's you might find that a swap to 225's (or even 215's!) might help with your clearance issue.

HTH

Much better -

To be expected I am afraid, my old Octy MK2 did this on 235 wide tyres on an 8J rim so I expect 235 on a 8.5J rim to be the same, or worse. You should have got the 8J rim with 225 wide tyres. I dumped the 235 wide tyres and replaced them with 225, the replacement tyres did not rub at all. You can do this on your 8.5J rim, but you will obviously have stretched tyres and risk curbing the wheels more.

The problem is the wheels first, and then having a tyre width which is wrong for the Octavia.

I have 8.5 x 19" rims on my lowered Octy VRS Mk2 with 235/35 tyres on and never had any rubbing.

yea i think you are right wardth, there have been 2 guys that i have worked with that have smashed reps and oem wheels, maybe its down to the driver.

i have some merc amg wheels to fit,so does anyone have experience in arch rolling?

Yep, but yours are et45? Et42 seems to be enough difference to cause the rub - either that or a different tyre brand might have a slightly different shape even though it's badges as the same size?

Ah. Good point, they are indeed ET45. Forgot about that! Must get some sleep.....

I was looking for something else and found this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FENDER-FORMING-TOOL-WHEEL-ARCHES-ROLLER-WIDE-ARCH-FORMER-Z0230?item=330685315680&cmd=ViewItem&_trksid=p5197.m1374&_

Instead of looking at arch rolling and so on, I'd see if you can switch from 235/35/19 tyres, down to 225/35/19. As some have already said, that might be enough for you to get away without rubbing.

Well that's one way to do it I suppose.... :peek:

Getting my new Eibachs & Koni FSD's fitted in the next few weeks by AutoTechnica in HULL. They will also check for rubbing & resolving any problems.

The wheels look OK I think.
