Side lights......

Featured Replies

Has anyone tried to change the sidelight bulbs on a Fabia vRS??

I tried yesterday and its bloody awkward! Anyone got any tips? Im presuming you have to take the Battery out on the passengers side yes?

Thanks

You can remove the battery top cover and the front cover it all clips together, you'll get a little more room Hope this helps.............Andy

I got my dealer to do it on my Xenonned vRS.

They removed the front bumper and pulled the lights forward to gain access. Others prefer to remove the battery and the fuel filter to gain access from the engine bay. Either way, you don't want to do it often!

I've changed mine without removing the bumper or headlights.

It's very, very tight & you will lose some skin on your knuckles!

Push out the wedge clips on the covers & the back of the bulbs are exposed. The O/S headlight cover has a spring loaded clip at the bottom (just in front of the fuel filter on the vRS). Pull it out & then down & then things are made a littler easier.

Had to take off the wiring & ballast unit (xenons only) on the N/S headlight. The original bulbs are tight to take out, but keep pulling & they should come out.

Makes me so glad I went for the better Skoda :rofl::rofl:

seriously though: that sounds like an absolute nightmare

and just wait till you have to change a side indicator repeater lamp   (on any model!!!)

If any lights on mine go like side-lights/indicators I will probably replace them by LED ones. Only worry with those would be the lack of 'load' on the circuit :(

Anyone have good/bad/installation experience replacing the standard stuff with LED-based ones, what fits, what doesn't, that kinda thing?

Yes

I have used the Quad LED Bulbs from a company called ACE Parts (they sell a lot on fleabay)

four sets so far on two different cars have failed within two weeks of fitting :mad::mad:

Try to get some from a reputable supplier and things might be different but I cannot recommend the ones on ebay gum!

tnx for the feedback - if anyone has some that DO work (and remain that way ;) ) please post about it.

I'm sure it can work as a lot of buses use them :D

Three torx screws (2 top, 1 lower rear) and a bolt by the radiator and the whole unit comes forward.. (Be prepared to use a magentic pickup to retrieve the lower rear Torx) I replaced with the PIAA LED's and work brilliantly... (At least so far, 2 weeks)

indicators, piece of cake, other lights, pain in the rectum on any fabia.
