your missing the point the restriction on these cars is the down pipe !!! a cooler will enable you to run more boost as it wont heat soak or cause high inlet temps but catch 22 you wont be able to ru

  • RS Tunings rr is one of the more realistic ones out there and if anything under reads. It is 300 lb ft, like I say its been fettled constantly over the last 3 years at least. Mine was 262 lb ft.

  • oops, meant to say cupra R, also as mentioned TT and r32 ones are the same

Yeah you shouldn't really!

Okay i'll speak to nick, looks like my cruise control will have to take a back seat for the time being :o

Whats a catch tank lol

Mine dyno'd at 207bhp at the wheels with CAI, decat, Shark Stage 2 map. Now have FMIC and exhaust done so will do a new dyno soon.

been thinking of a dp and sports cat as i want the car to spin up a bit faster, glad to hear doing that will make a difference.

most of those mods are unecessary and a bit of a waste of money

coil pack recall is free at border skoda !!!

best thing to do is get a forge fmic (if you MUST have an fmic) and get booked into rtech

the only other mod worth doing is the forge dv (if nick reckons it is required)

while at rtech get them to map out the sai/n112 and remove it - other systems removal (n249 etc) require a bit of reading up on before you make a decision

all other money best saved up for fuel or suspension mods etc, engine wise not really worth doing much else unless you go decat etc, big power also costs big money (turbo, rods etc etc)

jase, i have had both R-tech and shark and the shark is miles better imo.

dont wanna start a bitch fest, but i think the shark map is spot on!

Why go forge?

I am getting a 3 month old ths fmic? For less than half the price of the forge item! Which to me has a better design?

To me an fmic is a necessity if you want full enjoyment for more than 2 seconds, the stock smic is pitifull, even on a stock map to me it feels laggy... Yes it may need cleaned but it is poor for performance

Cars getting weitec coilovers too so handling it will be enough (not interested in arbs etc) my old fabia never had a 'must have rarb' and it still whooped lcr's round knockhill

jase, i have had both R-tech and shark and the shark is miles better imo.

Bens a nice lad too!! Decisions

If you think the std smic is laggy then youll def not like a FMIC.

mate of mine who dunt get on her much has a smic, decat dp, ebay CAI and K&N filter same as me and has an RS Tuning map again same as me but his has been tweeked a lot more and he is on 225bhp and 300+ lbft no ****! and his copes perfect and he drives like a loon.

The DP and 200 cell cat is a nice compromise. I found the cat and cat back made a big diff to me, then I had the DP done and that made a really big diff too.

No point going CAI neither IMO unless you get a bigger TIP as that is really small too.

If the price is good then thats fine but unless your going to do the rest of the mods to allow more air to get in to the turbo to allow for the bigger air track then youll only make it worse.

The CAI will give you better noise and a few bhp pos but will lower the torque slightly unless you can get the supporting mods and a good map to make the most of it.

all best mate

billy

Laggy maybe wasnt the best word to use... Heat soaked is what i ment....

Would the stock turbo not overspin with reduced back pressure!? Common problem on the smaller fabia vrs when a decat is used on a stock tubby?

can someone go into this one a bit more for me? What bits do you need exactly and what do I need to do from my part to fit this/get it working? Would I need to get my map tweaked to get it to work or will it blend in?

How on earth did it manage to achieve that amount of torque?

I stand corrected i dont think its heat soak on the stock smic....

Its 2nd to 3rd gear.... 1st and 2nd seem rapid then when i change to 3rd its like a brick wall.... But i perservered with 3rd and it picked back up again.... I think its the ratio's on the long 5speed box.... Seems to drop way low between gears... Hopefully the map will sort this lul in performance out :)

the standard smic is actually very good, and only an issue if you are going to track the car tbh

i mentioned the forge fmic because it has a proven history and is a good fit for the car, the ths one is a bit of an unknown to me although i hope it work well for you

there are lots of good handling mods available for the octy, cupra wishbones & bushes etc etc which I think would be a better use of cash rather than engine mods

how is it miles better then ??

please explain why you think its better more power, more torque, more boost . gives everyone an idea then

not that it matters as nick and mikko know one another and talk on the other forum i have only ask you to answer this for other people to make judgement when they want a remap as its a bold claim that its miles better

if im not mistaken did you not have a generic put on your car?? and the r-tech map was on a different car?

have you stuck vagcom to see if there are any codes ?? sounds like you might have a 17705 causing a flatspot ???

Mine is fine in 3rd, definitely something need sorting there.

Going to check all vac hoses today :)

The map has been fettled over the space of a few years. Paul keeps coming up with stuff and tries it on his car, sometimes works sometimes doesnt. He did say tho that its not the best unless you boot it which wouldnt be any good to me but for his driving its good lol.Basically the DP and the cat are all one part, When I had my zorst done they only cut the std cat off and put a 200cel one on. then I had the DP and TIP sorted and it was a lot smoother even on the same map.To get the most out of any mod to the engine you need a map tweek but lets face it it would cost too much.If I was to start again I would not touch the engine. I would put Bigger brakes on, Coilovers, F & RARB's, Cast wishbones and castor bushes + Polly bush everything, TT/S3/LCR Hubs, then an LSD. then start on the engine stuff and finish with a remap. but thats the eco way of doing it lol.

does the Leon Cupra have different wishbones to the vRS? 3 inch dp and decat made a nice difference to our otherwise standard Leon

The cupra has the same wishbones as the vRS.

its the Cupra R/S3/R32/TT ones you want.
