Featured Replies

does the Leon Cupra have different wishbones to the vRS? 3 inch dp and decat made a nice difference to our otherwise standard Leon

oops, meant to say cupra R, also as mentioned TT and r32 ones are the same

your missing the point the restriction on these cars is the down pipe !!! a cooler will enable you to run more boost as it wont heat soak or cause high inlet temps but catch 22 you wont be able to ru

  • RS Tunings rr is one of the more realistic ones out there and if anything under reads. It is 300 lb ft, like I say its been fettled constantly over the last 3 years at least. Mine was 262 lb ft.

How on earth did it manage to achieve that amount of torque?

Over reading probably.

Over reading probably.

you'd think it would be more like 300Nm

how is it miles better then ??

please explain why you think its better more power, more torque, more boost . gives everyone an idea then

not that it matters as nick and mikko know one another and talk on the other forum i have only ask you to answer this for other people to make judgement when they want a remap as its a bold claim that its miles better

if im not mistaken did you not have a generic put on your car?? and the r-tech map was on a different car?

erm.... no..

your like my 9 year old... .. ..

no thats harsh... .. ..

you like my 3 year old!!

LOL you come on a forum giving it the thats better than the other but dont have a reason why !!

Ive been on here and modded plenty of cars and if i státe that something is better than others i atleast státe why !!

Your post is more trolling!!! Anyway not really to botherd Ive been there got the tshirt ;-)

P.s you must have a clever 3 year old ;-)

take it as my opinion.. if i go into details as to why it will cause more dramas than good on a public forum. R-tech have a very good reputation and are the gods over on the popular golf forums. However.. What i have had from shark infact... W8 PERFORMANCE is second to none.

Whats the problem??

Dunno why your always niggaling at peoples posts/threads/comments!

and yes, both my kids are clever thanks.

i would say so looking at that price!! thats madness!

a friend of mine said what about a DP, Decat and remove the silencer? How would that play out.

would be alot of nice noise. de-cats are to much of a pain in the arse now. with vosa jumping all over modded cars nowdays id settle for a sports cat now.

correct me if im wrong but i thought a forge dv isnt really needed as the normal one is the same as that found in a cupra r and can handle the boost.... up to a point

and the oem one is a fraction of the cost

But if I kept my original CAT and put it back on for MOT purposes is that an idea?

actually, average power of stage 1 map 210-215?

so what we sayin for stage 2 map 225? 230? 240?

cant believe only 225 from fmic, turbo back exhaust and sports panel filter?

dont mind me im prob talkin ****

It's ok talking BHP but the big gain is the Torque which people have kind of missed out. BHP is more for top end which you can't really see on english roads, where as torque is for can be used all the times. Diesels don't have massive BHP but have a high torque and man will they give you a run for your money.

End of the day, if your car isn't set up right in the handling and braking dept, then what's the point in having all the power?

Stock turbo manifold. The OEM unit is highly restrictive.

For a 'genuine' 300lb/ft Id expect the engine to be running well over 250bhp.

In any case, a rolling road can be inaccurate.

If I was to start again I would not touch the engine.

+1.

If I'd kept mine and had a spare £500 I would've done the whole R32/TT front end with polybushes, rear beam bushes and fitted my TT quickrack (did you fit it to yours in the end?)

OK a remap is nice but how long before you start thinking you want more... Then its either ££££s to go big turbo or get rid and get something else. Stage 2 may be a middle ground but to do it properly is very expensive (downpipe and sports cat, intercooler etc) for what is only a 20bhp or so gain over stage 1.

Cheap ebay decat then get your Cat welded in ;-) the Cat isnt the main restriction !!

Agree with above its all about the handling and stopping !

Yes and no on this one, my vectra is only 183.4 bhp yet yet is managing 220lb/ft and this was done on a rolling road that is pretty much spot on. I know it's not 300lb/ft, but if changed a few parts it would be.

I am finding all of this very interesting as I want to go down this route too, On a stage 1 remap is there a need for a DP and exhaust, or can my standard exhaust do the job? as there seems to be a real argument about it. All i want is a bit more oomph from extra torque. not really interested in massive bhp, as i have had it and it's not always great.

More importantly i am interested in better handling first as she seems to be quick enough as standard. I assume she is standard as she gets 12psi peak, then drops and holds at 10. although this morning she seemed a little feisty and peaked at 14psi, then dropped to 12.

If you can get VCDS on it instead of a boost gauge you'll get a more accurate reading of the boost pressure. peaking 14 and holding 12 sounds a little high for a standard car really... but then a bit low for a stage 1 remapped one. So it could be remapped but not running quite right.

Here's the boost graph of a standard car on a dyno, you can see it only peaks at just above 9psi:

Cheers,

Rolling road day next month, might help sort out what it is. most of the time it's 12psi dropping to 10psi. I used to love the old days.... open the ecu up, oh look, there's a chip. yup remapped then. lol

dont forget boost gauges dont tend to be very accurate ;-)

fair enough, what allowance should we make then? 10% for error rate?
