Right, all booked in for thursday 19th at Hobins Skoda, Spoke to Craig who was very polite and answered any questions i had, he also said they have done quite a few recalls and if they feel the injector loom is brittle, they will of course replace that under warranty

Im also getting the wipers checked out too!

Its my word against theirs if i say it was working before recall and after it isnt?

and true, no one moans about the positive, its always the negative

Benny, yeh if i could get some recommendations for local that would be great, if not then i dont mind taking a day off work to travel there and back

You have a car that is working, you take it into a garage and once they've carried out work on your car there is a problem.

This problem isn't noted as being there by the garage, who will have inspected your car before starting work.

On the grounds of probability, I think I know which side I'd believe.

Im not sure how he will replace the loom under warranty as its not part of the recall which he should know if he has done a few so be prepared to pay as they can break easily.

At the start the loom was covered but as from feb gone its not any more.

ive rang skoda uk and informed them of my worries, they have referenced the call today so if i have any issues and i ring up, they have evidence to state i rang them prior to the car going in for the recall

I spoke to Craig who mentioned a few guys on here who had gone there (skodanorman was one of them)

Had injectors & loom replaced end of Feb '12 under Skoda 'Workshop programme' (they don't refer to it as a recall…). All fine 'til last night when glow-plug warning light started flashing and got the 'Get to Workshop Now Matey' warning on the maxidot!!! Nursed it home on limp-home mode, car shaking badly like only 3 cylinders firing, at only 1000-1500 rpm, was smoother at 2k rpm. Local bloke diagnosed an 'open circuit on one of the injectors', didn't charge me for diagnosis. Explained to him the Skoda work in Feb; local bloke said get it back to main dealer as they touched them parts last...

It's back at Benfields, Harrogate now, will wait and see what happens tomorrow, read a million posts on a thousand forums and tbh, not getting a nice warm feeling with it all.

Worried about quality of parts, workmanship and if they say it's nowt to do with them; I've had 10 wks since the work was done, and it was working fine before...

Sounds like a dodgy injector.

Either that or they've damaged the loom when they've swapped them over.

Did they replace the loom as part of the recall? This part is now replaced at the discretion of the garage dependant on condition.

Had mine replaced at Benfield Harrogate, apart from other things my Replaced Injectors and loom are fine

Well, hasn't caught fire yet

Bought my TDi Vrs a couple of weeks back and an entry in the 'workshop entries' of the service book states 'recall 23J7' on the 30/12/11. I emailed Lightcliffe Skoda in Warrington, asking if this was the 'injector recall'. Got a reply the same day from them confirming that is was for the injectors. So they used to refer to it as a recall. The car has done 7000 since.

Sounds like its ur wiring loom to me, that's why I payed for mine to be replaced as the loom is very fragile, wouldn't think it's an injector as the new ones don't seem to give bother.

It's only the PD170, so your shouldn't be.

If you want to be sure, give skoda customer services a call and they'll be able to confirm this.

Problems with injectors are not peculiar to VW/Skoda.

A local indy over here, a mechanic to trade, (& runs the support team for one of the big brand name rally teams as required), uses a another independant specialist to pull the injectors from modern diesels.

Plus

Clive at work was working on a Peugeot engine with about 60,000 miles on, the injectors were basically rusted into the head (galvanic corrision? is it)

Clive took advice from said Indy as above, one injector of the 4 took some shocking pressure (12 or 20? tonnes was required) to crack the corroded bond.

Plus the aged (but OK if undisturbed) loom issues as well, ( which may or may not be unique to VW)

I suppose these parts are really not intended to be ever disturbed for the life of the car, statistically, per the design engineers.

Just a thought
