Oil Service Warning

Featured Replies

My car is at an age and stage where I can't justify the cost of main dealer servicing. (plus after recent experiences have no faith) I'm just coming up to an oil change interval, anyone know what the options are for getting the oil service warning reset?

Also anyone changed the plugs on a 1.6, seems the inlet manifold has to come off! looking for info on pitfalls....

Thanks

Paul,

take it to skoda...its not worth the giref of messing around to end up buying tools which make the service cost as much as a dealer would have done.

Alternatively you may be able to find a good independent garage with much lower labour rates than the dealers. I have used one near home for years - they used to do all the servicing on my fleet cars. They came recommended by word of mouth and got loads of business from myself and my colleagues. A good reputation is priceless. Having said that my Octy is getting serviced by my local dealer at present while it's still under warranty and they haven't been too costly so far.

I'm trying not to cut my nose to spite my face but there are only two dealers I can use, they've both let me down and they are both inconvenient to use and I really don't feel like lining there pockets any more....

I guess I have to admit that I made a mistake when I bought my car. Thought I was doing the right thing with the Skoda badge, VW quality (being a life long VW fan) without the price tag......but for me it has not worked out.

I'm sure if I owned a vRS or 4X4 I would feel different, they are something a bit special. Although I have a great enthusiam for cars I'm not in a position to 'indulge', I'm only here for basic family transport.

My next "family motor" is going to come from someone closer to home.... that's my lesson learned. I don't expect any better service from Ford, Honda, or anyone else but if they're just a couple of minutes away it'll be easier to deal with....

I'd still recommend Wayne Connolly! :)

Rob.

Paul try Gorners... a bit of a drive but they give courtesy cars and have been great with us..

Details of how to reset the service display are in the Owner's Manual on page 64 - if we have the same edition. Its in the section on Controls and Equipment at para 5 - Speedometer.
